I fiddled with the settings for ages and couldn't manage to make a female character look... anything less than slightly off.

The male character was much easier.

I was wondering, are the face presets your choose just that, or do they add some factors that can't be changed with the sliders?

And yeah, needs more hairstyles, beard styles, and tattoos.

The face presets are just presets but! The most important part when making a face is choosing the right base face and skin, because *that* changes a bunch of things that can't be changed with sliders

God dammit they didn't bother implementing Frame Generation either, when you already have DLSS3? Especially in a game that clearly needs it? Come the gently caress on, Capcom.

I don't think that would help when the performance bottleneck is the CPU

So apparently total weight of your character does determine some things. Higher weight means you can carry more in your inventory, and vice versa. Lower weight means your stamina recovers more quickly, and vice versa.

Oh, and according to the release times it'll be coming 5 PM today on the west coast US. I hope whatever janky key shop I bought the code from makes it available to me then.

https://www.ign.com/articles/dragons-dogma-2-global-release-times-confirmed

That's generally my experience, especially since I play at 1080p with a locked vsync 60 fps. Most games run really well with some notable exceptions (Star Wars Jedi Survivor which by all accounts was an absolute loving disaster for literally everyone and they never fixed it).

I'm slightly concerned about this one though. I've got a quite old i7-8700k, and unfortunately that's about the best CPU my motherboard can run. I will be upgrading my board and CPU soonish, just hoping that I'm able to play this comfortably and it stays around 60 fps. I think I can get there, if necessary by tweaking some settings.

I have the same processor and from what I can tell from the PCgamer benchmarks the game will have no issues hitting 60 fps out of town but will probably drop to 30-ish average FPS in town

Lmao hell yeah boys they're doing idiotic RE4 style microtransactions but even more aggressive this time. God Capcom is worthless.

I'm willing to tolerate it because it hasn't compromised the quality of their games. It's just nuisance poo poo to be ignored, they're not forcing you to grind unless you pay up or shoving popups in your face. Or one of my favorite examples, the NPC that showed up in Dragon Age Origins at your camp who stood around and said boy I sure do need help, and then directed you to the DLC page to buy the DLC

Also they do almost nothing to advertise the dlc at you in-game. There's a link to the store page in the main menu and that's it. I remember back when Dragon Age Origins released its DLC they literally put an NPC in your camp to direct you to buy it

Does it actually teleport you? Because I said yes, went to sit on the cart, then after 2 minutes of the cart painfully slowly making its way forward, stood up and started walking.

You need to hit a button (Y/△ by default I think) to "doze off" and you'll wake up at the destination

Gotta switch to archer for that

I found out the hard (and funny) way that you can't ferrystone out of a cave. Your character just tosses the ferrystone and it drops to the floor, doing nothing. Luckily it doesn't actually consume the ferrystone when you try that

Have y'all noticed random adventurer parties wandering around? In the farm fields east of Vernworth I found a dude with 3 scantily clad lady helpers who helped me bring down a griffon there. I've seen several other parties on the road since then

If you're inside, you can charge it up, fire it, and it'll kill everything in the room, everything in any tunnels leading into the room, and probably most stuff 2-3 rooms away. It's hilarious.

Yes, for similar reasons. There were fewer cramped indoor areas to use it in though.

I really wish using a riftstone would auto resummon all of your pawns that just dunked themselves into the brine instead of only your main pawn because it feels bad to have a cool pawn go back with no gift/rating

The first game did this and it was so common have pawns get the default rating because they brined themselves that it seemed like a complete no brainer to change.

The first game did not do that

Also there's a bunch of random adventuring parties you can encounter in the wilderness that seem more than capable of handling the smaller monsters out there. I've also seen traveling peddlers out there with armed guards, though not all of them seem to have escorts.

Question about the sorcerer miester skills: I already gave a complete set of grimoires to the rear end in a top hat who only talks to you if you have the noble clothes on in Checkpoint Rest Town before learning about the child living with her grandma deep in the forest north of Melve. Is there another set of books around? I've explored pretty much all of the "human" areas now (haven't gone over the border or into the forest to the north). I also remember some lady at the hidden village offering to trade a book but I had no spare copies of what she wanted.

There's second copies of some of the items you're looking for. Also you don't need to make a full delivery, I managed to get the rewards I wanted from the first quest with just 3 items plus a gift afterwards for the extra favor boost

Probably a drake getting into a fight

e: Apparently, you can use the Trickster vocation to create an effigy and make the skeleton attack that from the other side? Unfortunately I haven't unlocked that class yet, so I can't verify.

Put your pawns on wait and pick them up and put them closer to the door, I found success doing that

Some exploration stuff kinda pisses me off, like encountering some house with a locked door and ladder inside visible through the window, leading me to think you could get in through a nearby cave or something.

But no. I looked it up and you literally just have to be an Archer (to shoot the barred door through the back window).

It wouldn't be a big deal if you could change vocations at camp, but I think you only can in towns.

Edit: It also bugs me in a basic "realism" way, since you often have party members who can do the thing in question. It's not like it's tedium resulting from a focus on realism.

Technically you don't have to be an archer for those, just any class with ranged damage. I did one as a sorceror

Well I hecked up the sphinx quests on accident. I was onto her last quest at the Frontier Shrine (which is much easier to stumble across than the main Sphinx shrine), and she was like “find this NPC” and I’m like hey I recognise this nasty little gremlin. Turns out it was a dude who looked almost just like him, so I totally misunderstood the trick to that quest. Should have realized such a recognizable NPC would mean it’s a trick. Sadly, I disappointed the best romance option in the game and she flew away.

Perhaps the name should have clued you in. The two NPCs are named Dante and Vergil, implying that they're twins. Like Dante and Vergil in Devil May Cry the main difference between them is their hair

Then I hosed up the sphinx riddles a second time because I didn't realize that one dude in checkpoint rest town had a toothless twin :negative:

Should have taken a closer look at the name. And their hair.

The rest of the review was fine, even if I'm enjoying the game more than him.

He got the content of the microtransactions wrong, incorrectly asserting that ferrystones were for sale (they are not, only a portcrystal)
