Jameis is a big athletic idiot. At least there's a built in excuse if FSU loses Sat.

If "gently caress her right in the pussy" is worth sitting out a half of a football game, I probably would have had to sit out a whole season when I was his age. Jesus.

The suspension feels like an overreaction but it was also a pretty bad idea on his part for obvious reasons.

I'm glad that's done and everyone has remembered that he's a hack. I mostly remember Forde for his habit of working in a shot at Calipari in like every column he would do during basketball season. Which I guess from an outside perspective could probably be described as "kind of awesome" but.

I think a "We'll handle this within the team and Jameis understands that his behavior wasn't inappropriate or acceptable as a representative of this team and University, blah blah blah" would have been perfectly acceptable.

A half-game suspension says the same thing much more clearly. Also makes it clear that he will get more than a stern talking-to in the future. Given that this isn't the first incident of Jameis being somewhat out of control, it's time he got his chain yanked.

If he was just a regular player, and had pulled all of this poo poo, he'd be off the team by now. Hell, Swag Kelly was dismissed just for being a whiny little bitch and denting someone's car.

I'm sure it wouldn't have been a suspension, or probably even a story, if he wasn't a highly visible guy with a track record of bad PR. He participated in a BB gun fight that did a lot of property damage at an apartment complex, he was very publicly accused of sexual assault, he was arrested for stealing crab legs, and now he does this. He ought to understand by now that (a) anything he does can get picked up by the news media, and (b) there are a significant number of people who'd like to see him go down for something. Giving those people ammo is harmful to the team and to the school.

It's really weird that at this time last year people were falling all over themselves about how awesome they thought Jameis was. I mean, yeah, in a vacuum this situation would normally be hilarious but in context it's a little disturbing.

I see offensive innovation at Auburn and A&M and suspect that they will improve defensively over time whereas LSU never seems to have a great offense, QB, etc. A&M is in a great recruiting position as the only Texan SEC team and I suspect that they will begin to put together an elite defense if they continue to win. And being gutted continually by the NFL is part of having talented players. Not that I want any of this to happen, mind you. I would love if LSU remained on top and Arkansas continued to still somehow find ways to beat them. I actually like LSU more than another other of the SEC West teams.
