Edit: I guess the reason it "just worked" when I first installed Nightly this weekend is that I had uninstalled the game a year ago after burning out on it. So when the next nightly came out, everything broke? I probably should have done more digging, I did check the steam forums and saw other people had the issue but there was no resolution in that thread. And it was 10pm so I didn't want to have to do a bunch of work to get to use the product, I'm not running Linux here.
