No, that is based on the Voat.co post by someone who made a fake Dolvak account. Someone posted a PM with him on Reddit where he said it wasn't him who said it on Voat.
Yeah that post was very obviously and humorously fake.

People like Dolvak get off on the tiniest bit of internet authority. He probably lists the twitch channels he "mods for" on his resume. He even made statements just days before quitting about how he's seen it all and nothing phases him. One Twitch streamer's joke post wouldn't be enough to make him give it all up.

It's like when Reddit admins had to step in on /r/dereksmart because the mods were giving Karl's post encouraging people to contact Derek's wife and kid tacit approval by ignoring all reports. The next day they played it off as their own decision and made a stickied post flexing their mod muscles.

Bullshit posturing by broken people.

The Protocols of the Elders of Goonism

I get a lot of PMs about this, so I think it might be a good idea to put this in the thread.

As you all know, we have worked on our battle plan to fight the threat from Star Citizen, which if unchecked might dissuade people from buying our game of games, Derek Smart's Line of Defense. Our current strategy focuses on a two-pronged assault of trollism and mockery. Mockery is not easily taught, but trollism is more of a craft - this might serve to increase the return on trolling for those new to the trade.

Trolling
You might be excused for believing that we focus on a :goon: of negative users on Reddit - openly or lightly veiled goons. This is in fact just a fraction of our current efforts. To understand how to troll successfully and with a high amount of toxicism-per-troll, you will first have to understand how the Citizen mind works and how to convincingly act as one.

Citizens can be easily divided into four groups, based on their professed and actual level expectations on the game.

  • Low professed and low actual expectations are the type of low-level backers who don't keep up with the drama or development too much. They don't proselytize and generally hope for a cool game somewhere down the road, or have given up totally. Trolling as one of them has a very low toxicism-per-troll yield.

  • Low-high Citizens are whiners who will criticize anything CIG makes whether they succeed in their efforts or not. Trolls who are perceived as such get quickly downvoted and thus have a low toxicism-per-troll yield.

  • High-high Citizens are backers who take CIG's claims seriously, but also judge them by their own standards. They come in all backer levels and usually begin with high hopes for the game, with time tempered by contact with released content and perceived misconducts by CIG. They have the potential for high toxicity-per-troll by dividing the audience into detractors and supporters, but require high effort to come across as both well-informed and fair in their criticism.

  • High-low Citizens are the semi-conscious shills whose priority is maintaining the narrative of successful development, whatever the evidence to the contrary. They are confident in voicing ludicrously high hopes for any promised, hinted-to or assumed features that SC might have in the future, comparing the imagined "finished" Star Citizen to their unflattering view of other actually finished games. They are simultaneously eager to defend any released content in Star Citizen through any of a number of go-to excuses: "it's alpha", "it's open development", "it's the [goons, community's,derek's] fault", "it was the plan all along", "don't be such a privileged and entitled twat" and so on. These citizens have best toxicity-per-troll return, being easily faked and requiring very low effort to maintain. We already have a number of prominent Reddit accounts shaping the debate through their unquestioning loyalty to CIG, expressed in increasingly shrill staccato.

A good way to get the feel of different trollisms is to create multiple accounts (use private tabs) and have them debate each other with their different stupid "beliefs". Once you've farmed a decent number of upvotes with an account you can begin to engage others by supporting their stupid position just a little bit too aggressively, or disagreeing with them just slightly louder than the others. Don't be afraid of the risk of debating other trolls, it also serves to steer the discussion shitward - fake an opinion and watch them dance :getin:

At Level 5 point, a global bounty mission is posted to all characters on the server instructing them to hunt down and kill the character. Each Criminal level adds 30 seconds of "jail time" to your respawn. When a Criminal is killed, they will be locked into their spawn-bedroom for the duration of their penalty time. If you are killed while at Criminal Level 5, you will be kicked off the server!! There are only two ways to reduce your Criminal level. Waiting 10 minutes without committing a crime will naturally reduce the level by 1. There is a console in Security Post Kareah that you can "hack". Each hack you initiate and complete drops your wanted level by 1. However, each hack takes 1 minutes to complete, and other criminals can interrupt your hack by initiating their own.

Fidelity. Wait, was I'm working on again?
What I see in this latest set of patch notes is that CIG has abandoned their planned () development of the game in lieu of creating a meta-game specifically designed to thwart goon activity. This is funny on several levels:

1) It shows that we continue to control the game's direction
2) It moves the game farther and farther from its original vision
3) We're gonna find workarounds anyway, which will then determine the direction of the next patch

I think we have enough people here who work in development related industries who can back me up on this assertion: temporary fixes and workarounds almost always become permanent legacy mechanics. This poorly-planned GTA "criminal stars" mechanic is going to be here for a while, and it's going to be an unstable foundation upon which many other ill-fated systems will be built. Ramming ships was more important to "fix" than the ships working in the first place.

Squadron 42 will feature a richer storyline and 45 total missions.

This one has always been a personal favorite, because it implies there are two storylines. A weak-sauce one if funding had missed the goal, and a "richer" one if we were all good little boys and girls and gave the Crimperor enough cash. {Spoiler alert: Chris can't write a rich storyline.)

This actually just means a storyline with more guys named Rich.
