Only points I've allocated so far at lvl 6 were to get my MC up to level 2 in swords. Do I get enough points for all skills or should I be skimpy? Any early advantages or missables? For skills, you get enough to max out two trees at the end of the game, but you can just min/max allocation since a lot of the 100 point skills like Gigaslash aren't actually very good (they do a lot of damage but you can't really spam them since they cost so much MP). Just investing in two trees is good enough for a fresh play through. You eventually get an alchemy pot to make stuff from items and equipment, so saving your old stuff is a good idea until you know it can't be used.

If you're like me and giving the hero spears, one of the prizes (3rd or 4th?) that Cameron gives you for taking pictures is a Holy Lance. I made one right in the middle of the Ascantha detour and then got a free one just after I finished Also, I got it even though I was completely ignoring the monster picture challenges, so you can probably pick it up sooner if you're diligent about that.

Seems like they added quite a few new monsters to recruit for your arena team. Anyone find some new good ones that could make doing the laters ranks before the midgame boss? Talos still can't carry A rank alone.

Is there anything different in DQ8 other than picking up new characters that would otherwise make the main game different than the PS2 version? I've played it many times but use a guide to make sure I don't miss treasure.

I've played it many times but use a guide to make sure I don't miss treasure. New photography quest has some early alchemy level rewards if you keep up with it. There are new monsters you can recruit for the monster arena. There are new weapons and alchemy recipes for Red/Morrie as they get new weapon types. There are more mini-medals and some have been moved. The original 4 characters had their skill trees changed and rebalanced. Angelo's skill points aren't nearly as backloaded, Helmsplitter reduces 1/4 def instead of 1/2, Twin Dragon Lash is now two hits of .9x instead of two 1.5x hits etc.

Some of the treasure chests on the overworld are now blue, which means they are restocked over time, but I don't know what triggers it. Dungeon maps are given to you automatically, and the chests that used to contain them now have gold.

Who would you suggest removing from the party to fit Red and Morris in anyway? The main 4 seem so... balanced that removing one just sounds bizarre to me. Also is the script changed at all or do you unlock Red and Morrie and they don't say a single thing the rest of the game?

Your hero heals better than Angelo does anyway (He gets Omniheal and MP cost reductions) only being short Kazing... which Jessica or Red can get for you (Though for Red, it's not Kazing but rather Fan's reviving move), and Red can pull backup healer with fullheal, while Yangus... never really did much of anything to begin with. His two things were criticals, which Morrie has in his club line (and a Spear Hero also has anyway), and stealing from scythes, which Red actually does passively. Morrie, meanwhile, debuffs enemies ignores defense with Claws, and can AoE murder metal slimes with Metalicker on Boomerangs.

I'd say Angelo is better than Jessica in this version, pretty much due to the whip nerf. She's consistently been my weakest link, both in damage and (obviously) survivability. Hero's omniheal is more or less an endgame thing, unless you're ramming courage at the expense of everything else. (Which is a Bad Idea) Angelo's omniheal also frees up the hero to attack and by endgame he'll be get be getting passive tension through the timbrel so multiheal will function like omniheal most of the time anyway. Plus he works better for random encounters with his kickass instant-death spells. Anyway, that's my response. In actuality you should use everyone because they're all extremely cool. e: Yangus also received a massive buff in this game in that he can dress like a pirate

They're essentially converting casino coins to 150% gold. I also wouldn't be surprised if some other item at least had a decent "after x sold, increase value, tank after y' like the medicines used to have in the PS2 release--Japanese wikis just probably didn't even bother listing out such items when they had the super spicy cheese option. Gold Golem farming is easy, but not as easy to do while doing something else compared to casino coin farming and still not much better than it was on PS2 since they also cut the gold per golem by half.
