Edit I'm not trying to like be mean or get a "Pick Own" but if you flip the genders it becomes a pretty familiar sounding story and even a bit scary

You're pretty badly overstating how aggressive you think I was. I dated other guys through the time I knew him, only came by during the times he said were good for me to come by, and when he said not to come by any more I didn't.

When you flip the script and it's a lady who doesn't know how to let down some dude who was a long time friend but now keeps showing her with unwanted attention and unwanted gifts and sexually propositioned her and is following her Facebook from afar wondering why she won't give him a chance, it's a familiar story and one we can only hope stops there. I mean yeah the guy should use his words more straightforwardly but that's a pretty common complaint the other way around too (although imo he's been pretty clear with his actions!)

One of my most poignant childhood memories was my grandpa drawing a gun on a new jersey gas station attendant because in Jamaica you only approach a car like that if you're gonna shoot into it.

i don't plan on carrying concealed, it's mostly for home + range. i can open carry when hiking or selling stuff on craigslist.

if i had my druthers i'd get a nice .22 revolver for the range, some sort of compact 9mm for concealed carry, a shotgun for the house and a .357 because revolvers are loving awesome but IM NOT MADE OF MONEY OK :qq:

I (23F) don't know how to feel about his (25M) fantasies

quote:

I've started seeing this guy for a couple of months but we have been friends for years. I know he is a good guy but he showed me his porn and I just don't know how to react. He is mainly into hentai and looks at a lot of rape of forced porn, which I react badly to sometimes because I have been raped in a past relationship and he knows it. Mainly I wonder why the girl has to be forced for him to like it.

On another end he likes to play japanese porn game in which there is a lot of interactive rape or selling/buying girls. Also he likes to design his own games. This is my main concern because in his games the character is either doing prostitution or being raped. Another game he makes is about underage characters having a lot of sex, I'm talking about 10 years old girls he writes sexual scenarios about.
I would say everything I have said until that is only to explain more about his fantasies, but I really don't know how to react about that one. They are fictionnal characters so am I overreacting? Is it weird? He says he would never do that to real girls but I guess I need an outside perspective. He says in these scenarios he imagines the girls are enjoying it which is a concern since they are forced situations :/

Tldr: fwb watches rape porn and makes underage sex games and I'm not sure how to feel about this.

[WA] Friend's mom tried to "gift" me her timeshare, I declined, now timeshare company is contacting me claiming I need to pay the lapsed maintenance fees to take control of the timeshare (which I do not want to do!), friend and her mom have been ghosting me. (self.legaladvice)

quote:

Not sure if I should post here, r/personalfinance or r/relationships but I think this sub is most appropriate.

My childhood friend's mom contacted me about 6 months ago asking if I would be interesting in taking over her timeshare, which is totally paid off except for some outstanding maintenance fees. The fees totaled over $2,000 to get back to current and then they are "roughly under $1000 annually". I told her I was saving for a house and was not interested in spending that kind of money right now. She asked if she could send me a packet about the timeshare so I could at least think it over. I told her that was okay and gave her my address.

About a month ago I got a call from the timeshare company welcoming me to the vacation club and letting me know I just had to bring the maintenance fees current and I could begin using the points on the account. I told him I wasn't interested in joining the timeshare and he said Friend's Mom had gifted it to me and I just had to pay the fees. I told him I was declining the gift and he needed to contact Friend's Mom. I immediately tried to contact Friend and Friend's Mom who both never responded.

One month later the timeshare continues to try to reach me about the fees. Meanwhile, Friend and Friend's Mom continue to ghost me. I don't think anything has legally happened yet. I didn't sign anything. I'm saving to buy a house and do not want this to wreck my credit should anything happen. Not really sure where else to turn at this point. I'm worried if I just ignore this it's going to wind up on my credit report somehow, although I'm not sure if that's even possible.

My roommate is accusing me of poisoning her wine

quote:

My roommate called the cops on me because she claims that I put poison in her wine. The cops came, spoke to both of us, and left. They told me her wine smelled like peppermint. Shortly after her and her friend began to harass me so I went and filed a protective order against her. I'm afraid that she will try to continue the allegations against me as revenge. Is this even possible to do? The officer claimed there was no reason to believe the wine had been "poisoned" but I am afraid of what she will try to accuse me of.

Quitting my job after boss raped me on business trip. Unsure how to address it in resignation email or if I should at all.

quote:

I'm a nanny, and the title pretty much says it all. I live in Texas. This happened almost two months ago, and I've only recently begun to process and deal with what happened. I was in a state of shock and denial for a long while afterward. I'm planning on sending him an email later today rather than quit in person to ensure my safety. Part of me wants to confront him so he knows exactly why I'm leaving. I feel like if I keep the email too vague, he will pester me about why I'm leaving so suddenly. He has a very controlling personality, so I don't see him letting it go very easily. My main question is--- Is it a bad idea from a legal standpoint, in case I want to try to press charges in the future, to accuse him of raping/sexually assaulting me in the email? I honestly don't think I have enough evidence, he is incredibly wealthy, used to be a lawyer and knows many lawyers, so I am unsure if I will ever see any legal action go through. However, I still want to know my best plan of action for right now.

Is there any way to receive unemployment income in a situation like this without a rape conviction?

Thank you for any advice you can give me, and please let me know if you need clarification on anything.

My almost 3 month old daughter has been subpoenaed to testify in a criminal case

quote:

Last Thursday a process server came to our house and served a subpoena for a criminal case on my daughter, who was born on April 15, 2015. I called the number on it to explain how it must be a mistake because my daughter is not even 3 months old yet but I was told there was no mistake and my daughter is required to appear as a witness to testify on the date shown on the subpoena. I went in person with my daughter to the DA’s office and was told the same thing. My husband and I thought this might be a case of identity theft. She doesn’t have a social security number yet because she was born at 29 weeks, spent 11 weeks in the NICU and has only been home from the hospital for 7 days so we haven’t gotten around to it yet. We checked anyway just in case and one has not be created for her or issued to her. Nothing with her credit either. We called the police about it possibly being identity theft and they are looking into it but so far there is nothing and they also told us the subpoena is legitimate. So we are very confused. My daughter has a rare and uncommon first, middle and last name, so it is very doubtful that there someone else with her exact name. When I called the number on the subpoena and went to the DA’s office I was told both times that if she doesn’t show up for court a warrant will be issued for her arrest. Would the police actually arrest a baby for not showing up in court? Or would my husband and I as her parents be arrested instead? Does anyone have an explanation for what is happening here or any advice as to what we can do to solve this? I swear I'm not trolling, I wouldn't believe this myself except it is actually happening to us. We are in California.

Depends on how much practice you want to do. Revolvers and Glocks (and similar pistols) have no safeties that need to be disengaged, so you can just point and shoot without fumbling the safety. Semi-autos often have a higher capacity than revolvers of the same size and power; you may not find it necessary, but bad luck happens and 15 rounds is better to have than 6 if you miss 3 or 4 times.

I prefer single-stack 1911s in part because the grips are very thin and comfortable for any hand size, though obviously you lose capacity for it.

doesn't a glock also have long trigger pull because of that, similar to a DA revolver that's not been cocked?

i'm torn between a cz75 because it's got a decent capacity and something smaller... if i had a bigger budget a 1911 might be nice but i think if i'm only buying one gun, low capacity + bulky for concealed carry aren't the best combo...
