Still not seeing "We will push for Medicare for all". Also, I find it fascinating that they acknowledge that special interests get undue attention but they propose nothing to rectify this problem. quote:That is the impetus behind our second proposal, to put economic power back into the hands of the American people, cracking down on the monopolies and big corporate mergers that harm consumers, workers and competition. We will demand that proposed mergers meet tough new standards to protect competition before approval, and will institute post-merger reviews to ensure that consolidated companies keep their promises to American consumers. This is a legit good idea but the devil will be in the details. Odds are the Democrats won't enforce the new rules and the new review committee won't have any teeth. We know this because the Democrats could have prevented many, many mergers under existing laws during the Obama years but simply chose not to. Edit: gently caress! Beaten by MF

VitalSigns posted:That's what they did in California, passed single payer a bunch of times for Arnold to veto, "we just can't pass this because of those mean Republicans, keep voting for us to beat them", but then they accidentally caught that car when the voters believed them and gave them a supermajority plus the governor's mansion. There's the mayor of Baltimore, who ran on a campaign to increase school funding and pass a $15 minimum wage, and the vetoed the $15 minimum wage and then cut public school funding while increasing charter school funding. To me that is the main issue with democrats. It's not running Ossoff in GA6 or Manchin in WV. It's that in the solid blue areas democrats a lot of the people in charge are essentially polite republicans.

Would like to point out the tax credit for hiring workers is almost definitely going to function as a method to kick people off the welfare rolls that will not take into account extenuating circumstances ranging from transportation to time demands of anything that would lead to stable employment beyond the scope of 9/hr at the local casino that already has a number of sweetheart tax deals with the local city government.joepinetree posted:There's the mayor of Baltimore, who ran on a campaign to increase school funding and pass a $15 minimum wage, and the vetoed the $15 minimum wage and then cut public school funding while increasing charter school funding. Clinton also said that businesses should receive a bonus on that tax credit for providing opportunities specifically for young people. https://www.hillaryclinton.com/briefing/factsheets/2015/06/16/fact-sheet-apprenticeships/ These idiots have learned nothing. "But we have made a decision of where we are going with health care." Schumer was saying single payer is on the table ~12 hours ago. The pressure is there, if she's going to piss on the base leading up to the midterms under an executive frighteningly unstable, she has to be removed. She's competent at what she does, but the ideological difference is too vast to accept at this point for something taken for granted in first world countries. Obama got loving elected on this poo poo, and its 10 years later, this isn't acceptable.

Now it's on the voters, if the Democrats truly believe the voters won't agree then it'll get voted down no worries, then they can say "we tried to give you single payer but you didn't want it."
