Before the police murdered him he would speak about racism being fought with solidarity, and to see that in action is exciting and hopeful. I hope it encourages people to see how much they can do without needing some goddamn politician to lead them around by the nose and tell them to wait wait wait while they trade horses with other goddamn politicians. I get your point, but this makes me super uncomfortable because the idea that politics is done by "goddamn politicians" is one of the most toxic American ideas about politics and it leads to people just not engaging because they view it as this alien world. If they're not public servants, then they need to be replaced, because it's actually meant to be an honorable position done by people of good will.

I realize this isn't all that original of a thought, most likely, but I feel like the reasons assholes like this become Trumpies and the reason people become Juggalos are not too different. Just total outcasts for whom basic social skills are a mystery.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to come back around for the pillar itself. It's probably more valuable than the statue anyways. Also sledgehammers are pretty iconic, have historical symbolism, and feel great to swing! Either way, I hope it's not the last. There's a few in my neck of the woods that I would happily show up to see torn down.
