The rate of premarital sex in America have not changed at all since the 1950s. Here are stats and data with proof. Like most things, what people might be tempted to attribute to culture and ideology ("the 70s were sluttier") is actually a result of pure hard materialism. The moment automobiles became widely available to Americans, premarital sex skyrocketed and has remained there ever since. If widely-available private transportation somehow up and vanished, premarital sex rates would go back down.
