The first crate you should blow up will take care of the two LRM turrets, and if you hang to the left (where the third turret is), the enemy mechs will draw towards you. You can get 2 or 3 of them into an explosion if you position your dudes well.

Remove pause tweak The pointless delays between things was put in on purpose by the developers (god knows why), but it’s a 30 second fix to remove. It both speeds up the game massively and makes for a smoother experience: – Go to: Steam folder\steamapps\common\BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\StreamingAssets\data\constants – Change the following lines in “audioconstants.json” so that they look like this: “AttackPreFireDuration” : 0, “AttackAfterFireDelay” : 0, “AttackAfterFireDuration” : 0, “AttackAfterCompletionDuration” : 0 “audioFadeDuration” : 0, Debug speed tweak Paste the text below into a text file, and save it with the .reg extension. Then double-click it. Use notepad or a text editor to avoid any problems. Launch your mission and press Ctrl-LeftShift-minus sign combination. That's speed toggle. code:
Use at own risk, back up relevant files etc.

How does the pay effect on morale work? Is it +/- x for only that month, or does it "stick." For example, if I have 25 morale and set pay to the -2 morale level, with it be 23 morale every month or 23 moral next month and 21 morale the month after?

If you're a TBS vet, then the battle and management systems should be pretty intuitive. The mechlab is the only place you might get tripped up, since building good robits can be tricky if you have the 'benefit' of a decades-longs obsession with the setting.

I've been running +1 and even some +2 after the first month and now I'm 6-7 months in with 30+ base morale. It's better to do this earlier, as your upkeep is less from having fewer units, pilots and ship upgrades to pay for.

Tae posted:I have absolutely no background in Battletech, how complicated is the game if I'm experienced in modern XCom and Front Mission? The mechanics are not as intuitive or obvious but I'm not sure I'd call them more complicated than XCom. A big step for me was realizing the UI gives you more information than I thought: i.e. during the angle preview on movement you can actually see various range arcs and also mouseover an enemy to preview weapon hit chances. Default loadouts are often pretty bad. The thing to remember is that Battletech (as in the pen and paper version) mech design was basically some nerds doodling cool-looking robots and then designing around that. The result is a lot of mixed weaponry and ranges. And sometimes a terrible lack of heatsinks.

Actually the lore reason it's called the Mad Cat is because IS targeting computers couldn't tell whether it was a Marauder or a Catapult and hence it labeled them Mad Cats IIRC.

Before the armor breaches, spin around so that the other side is taking damage. It's impossible to hit the left side from the right and vice versa, so you can guard your damaged sections as long as they're not the CT.

Yeah there's no overwatch. There's reserving though. Make good use of reserves. Learn to make good use of brace too. Brace saved my rear end in a really tough mission, just have my heaviest armored mech stand in some cover up front and brace, it'll soak up all the damage that could be hurting everyone else.

Well, they'd call it a Timber Wolf II or Timber Wolf Mk II based on other similar circumstances (Loki Mk II, Vulture Mk III, Thor II, Pack Hunter II). The Mad Cat is actually really aggravating because it goes: Mad Cat -> Mad Cat Mk II -> Mad Cat III -> Mad Cat Mk IV.
