PV is usually super fast and chaotic and rooted firmly in hardcore

Grindcore is still rooted in punk but is much closer to traditional death metal/etc

Hello? Charlemagne?!
Powerviolence maintains more of the characteristics of hardcore punk while grindcore "conventionally" relies on more metal influences.

I saw Mutliation Rites in a pretty small venue 4-5 years back. I was drinking at the bar between sets talking to some random guy, and after a few minutes he said "oh hey I got to go" and he climbed up on stage and started playing/singing.

A cool dude.

I used to live by the Acheron in Brooklyn, when it started a lot of the shows were free so it was fun to just pop in to whatever show was going on. One time my very non-metal sister was visiting so I took her over there just as Mutilation Rites was taking the stage. It was a great first show and she was like “I’m still not into the music but I completely understand the attraction now!”
