I like the videos about Sekiro because there's a lot of cultural stuff I don't necessarily pick up on (like when the Headless jams his hand up your rear end in a top hat and rips out... Something, it's a mythical organ called a shirikodama)

I just remembered the time when Lowtax didn't/couldn't pay the web hosting bill and begged goons for free hosting. Someone volunteered to host it, I wanna say their username was cockgobbler (could be wrong!) and on the second or third day he swapped some of the hosted images for goatse and Lowtax flipped poo poo and permabanned him.

Separately, the time when someone found a way to execute JavaScript on mouseover on the forums and you risked getting goatse'd in a new tab every time you moved your cursor over something.

Good times!

My pet video game theory is that every horror game takes place in the same universe. I have no evidence to support this, I just like the idea that Harry Mason escapes from the hellish otherworld of Silent Hill but when he gets to the next town and tries to tell anyone about his experience they're just like "What? Knife children? Who gives a poo poo, Raccoon City just blew up!"

me too, but i have definitely heard that argument against them a lot

(specifically that david being responsible for the alien shrinks the universe into something exclusively related to weyland and ruins the franchise and rah rah rah, and i don't agree with it, but it comes up all the time)

this all reminds me of the fun theory that "all Arnold Schwarzenegger movies occur in the Terminator universe"

I like that because it’s a really optimistic view of how quickly humanity rebuilt after beating skynet to have the civilization seen in Total Recall.

I could see the points of that argument. The alien becomes less a symbol of "woah space is scary there could be crazy poo poo out there" and becomes just more corporate meddling. This wouldn't necessarily be a problem because we have the dumb weird tall boys to be the new "crazy alien poo poo", except they're boring and lame

Quick roundup on the on-going non-saga that is the CSPAM/D&D slapfight

D&D opened a anti-succ zone thread they call [blow] which is the only funny thing generated in the thread. Highlights include:

hru for an insightful synopsis of D&D's previous mod feedback/nomination thread.

Fart Simpson posts an exceptionally tedious effort post that doesn't explain anything. Notable for hitting all the bbcode and being a representative post for the "meet effort with effort" ethos.

Thread was originally named embassy, but when called out about how embassies work (the host country does not make the rules on that embassy property) they renamed it to DMZ.

But honestly, it isn't worth the 24 page read. It is apparently going to be a weekend fixture so if you wanna see the site's most boring posters "going off" then that is there. More exciting is the lastest QCS thread being a promo for CSPAM's upcoming mod feedback thread to be posted like Wednesday according to Son of Thunderbeast.

D&D and CSPAM sagas follow the professional wrestling formula for entertainment. The wider world only ever needs to see WrestleMania, but freaks like me watch the arc of various posting superstars for the other 50 weeks of the year. A roundup of the vibes, storylines, and matches is useful (but absolutely not necessary) to provide context for the big show tho. My main motivation was I read all 24 pages of that dumb thread so I just had to pound out words from my thumb.
