I see a specialist doctor in Boston and got an email from Tufts Medical Center yesterday that they're providing paxlovid to anyone 12+ on the CDC high risk list. The one that contains stroke and organ transplant, but also being overweight, inactive, depressed, and/or drinking too much. So maybe availability is improving a bit.

Ugh, looks like my housemate has decided that the whole "No visitors from outside the house unless they're masked" rule we agreed on a while back no longer applies. I was just in the kitchen and some maskless dude walked into the room, I asked him to either mask up or stay the hell away from me and his first question was "Are you vaxxed?"
I pointed out that I'm vaxxed up the wazoo but vaxxed people can still catch the virus and I do not want to catch the virus and he promised to stay 1.5m away from me

I understand why people have decided stop giving a gently caress, there’s a lot of pressure to do so, but breaking the agreement and doing it without even announcing it is cowardly and a total dick move.

There is no excuse for your housemate’s behavior.

i wanted to see if South Korea was going to do anything about their massive outbreak

quote:

Meanwhile, the South Korean government is considering easing the current social distancing rules, which include a 11 p.m. curfew on businesses and a 6-person cap on private gatherings.

The government is reportedly reviewing options to push back the curfew by an hour to midnight and increase the limit on private gatherings to eight.

The government will announce its decision during a COVID-19 response meeting on Friday.

yeah. it's the same criteria they initially used for booster availability which discouraged a bunch of people from getting boosted unfortunately, even though literally everyone qualifies under these guidelines.

Nah.

This list is even broader.

It includes “physical inactivity”.

are we still providing fake names and getting a full (repeat) 1st dose, or is 'oops i forgot my vaccine card' the better option

In my experience you can't get a booster without a card because it's critically important to make sure you aren't mixing brands. I gave my real name.

Any data on fifth doses? I already scheduled mine. Also is there any data on best practices for it, if so? Like is Pfizer still a bit better for Omicron or what?
I was Moderna for my first full dose/first two jabs. Then Moderna for my first booster. Pfizer for my second booster because the early Omicron data suggested it might be a bit better. Figured I'd go Moderna for what is my fifth and - given the funding - likely last.

I'm up to 8 doses since Aug 2020 and I haven't had any real side effects with any of them since the first 2. My recommendation is to Max Titers it 2x to get some extra cards and then get Max his booster at the 6 month window.

I’m honestly not even sure what the worst questions are there. It’s “do you have basic google skills”, on top of “are we going to have to pay you too much” and “are you good at taking tests, and by the way, this cover letter is a test.”
