I'm certain it wasn't because they were scrambling to find actual real physical gold to send back because the London vaults were largely empty. Nah, it just takes years and years to cast a few tons of gold and ship them within Europe. I don't remember if Germany got all its gold back. Frankly I didn't care just found the whole thing funny. there was a dude some years back who found a way into the london vaults through underground maintenance and sewage tunnels

Oh yeah bread is 50% more expensive and rice and the meats are like 20-30% more, keep tracking inflation at like 10% or something.

eXXon posted:That just means bigger fish and chips, innit? The Farming & Rural Affairs Minister made a big deal of telling everyone "sure, tomatoes & lettuce & all the good vegetables cost lots, but you can just buy turnips", while at the same time the nation's largest turnip farmer, who is based in her constituency, came out & said that he'd had to quit the turnip farming game because supermarkets are forcing the prices so low that it's no longer affordable to grow them. Genius economic system. People probably need to pay more for food so that farmers can actually afford to grow things. Offset this by reducing how much they spend on rent for example. Reduce commuting costs by copying Luxembourg and just having free public transport. Whatever. None of this will happen because we're absolutely incapable of considering an alternative to capitalism, even as it shits itself horrendously, causing massive damage to millions AGAIN forkboy84 has issued a correction as of 14:32 on Mar 22, 2023 |
