One of the thing about AEW Cody is that he was a huge babyface star for a very long time but he sequestered himself into his own sphere which was booked weird anytime he wasn't doing TNT open challenges and kind of squashed a few pushes of people who got into his orbit (sean spears could have had a hot hot blood feud with him but lol nope, Ogogo people kind of liked but lol nope, and the repeated interruptions of Sammy's TNT run did no favours to fan's opinions of Cody) However, unsuited to AEW Cody became, he is one of the most bankable, hardest working, wwe model babyface stars the Fed has had since forever, so it's extremely funny that they've been fumbling him repeatedly and that his hard work is not paying off at all Cody should come home. fez_machine fucked around with this message at 12:39 on Feb 4, 2024 |

Even if this was a work and they were somehow setting up a triple threat or a Rock as the special enforcer match or something, doing it this way is the STUPIDEST POSSIBLE WAY. Cody rolling up and going "ooh I'm gonna getcha and I'm gonna beat you and I'm gonna take your belt! But not at the biggest show of the year" just makes him look like a stupid loser. If the idea was they were swerving Roman there's any number of better ways to get there. (E: the only way that works is if the guy doing the passing is known to be a bad rear end killer and the belt holder is injured or something, and they're doing the Samoa Joe 'yeah I could beat you now, but I'll just let you heal up and then beat your rear end when you're healthy so you won't have any excuses' thing, and (and this is the important part) then have the bad rear end beat the guy. But they won't do that because they think that would make Roman look weak and they suck at booking, and Cody isn't that guy) But that's all academic because that's not what they're doing. They're panicking because it turns out the board is full of rapists who might be going to prison, and are hoping the Rock blowing up all his muscles in a match with Roman will distract from that, and they want Cody to wrestle for some loser prize, so they can't say he's injured or something. At Elinination chamber, there’s a tag match between Solo/Uso and Theory/Waller for reasons… The rock comes down and distracts theory long enough for Solo to pin him. In the after math there s brawl and Jinder comes out to wipe everybody out. Roman runs out and stops it…and embraces the Rock. He explains that the Rock just wants to run the federation and he has been hired as the new CEO. Wrestlemania is Cody vs Roman, Cody loses, priest cashed in and wins..and the then the next night in raw Cody quietly finished his story by beating PRIEST. Worst booking ever.
