:aaaaa: I did not notice that for some reason! I thought that DQ4's "Chapters of the Chosen" was a great subtitle, but i'd have to agree with the others.

I just got DQ6(no slimes available :( should've gone to rich part of town where I got Slime shirt and poster for DQ9) and tried playing it last night... Then I got called into work soon after. Hope I have more time tonight!

Actually that stuff--at least some of it--was in the PS remake of DQIV too. I don't think that's all stuff that's new to the DS version.

I looked it up and could only confirm the DQIV extra pandemonium gear but nothing else.

Since, as far as I know, the PSX version was not released in the US so it was more like a "If we haven't seen it it's new to us!" kind of thing.

drat this thread is making me want to play all the DQs I have in order much like the Zelda thread. I don't know if I could do both series in 2011! Something tells me that i'm gonna try still.

I saw 1 and 3 looking for the zelda games, but 2 is missing somewhere. DQ4, 5, 6 and 9 are all DS so that's easy enough. DQ8 my brother has. DQ7 has eluded me :smith:

I've been on a DQ kick since I picked up DQVI last week, and it made me curious about whatever happened with DQ Monsters Joker 2, whether or not it was getting released over here. Since it's been at least a year since it came out in Japan I figured we're pretty much never getting it, but I just learned that Japan's getting some special edition of the game called Joker 2 Professional, and holy poo poo. They're adding a veritable assload of DQ9 monsters to the game, as well as some new areas apparently, and it just looks spectacular! Here's the trailer, I guess be warned that it shows off a few DQ9 bosses, including the final one. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll release this version over here? It's probably a bit too late in the DS's lifespan but I can hope, right? :smith:

Dragon Quest: Played it, beat it. Fourth title beat
Dragon Quest II: Played it, beat it. Second title beat
Dragon Quest III: Beat it after finding the value of having actual party members that can be used as backup in certain situations. Took a while to figure that.
Dragon Quest IV: First DQ I beat, favorite of the bunch.
Dragon Quest V: Have, played, beat on DS
Dragon Quest VI: Still haven't completed it. Will play more when i'm on travel.
Dragon Quest VII: Unknown
Dragon Quest VIII: Didn't play because little brother was playing. Never got around to it.
Dragon Quest IX: Beat it and was endgame grinding. Stopped for a while, but will pick up later.
Dragon Quest X: My future MMO that i'm going to play with is already PSO2. DQX is too late for me.

I remember playing DQ1 and finding the south most row available in the beginning of the game has higher level monsters like scorpions(which are common in the land past the nearby mountain range). Get enough levels on slimes then try my luck on scorpions. When i'm weak, go north where the slimes are and go to the town. Made grinding soooo much easier in the beginning.

Someone else asked if I'm going to embark on a quest to find my wife like my father did.

I just have no clue as to where I'm meant to be going...

If you are where I think you are...

If you are in chapter 5 check the spoilers. If not, ignore.

Do you have the magic key? A slime in a village let's you know where it is.

Its in the western cave in a lab.

In order to find the staircase for the lab, you need to search the chest that held the lamp of darkness for a button.

Games from my childhood. :allears:

Actraiser was more action than role playing in my opinion, and the fun simcity parts. (Liked it)
7th Saga had that godawful difficulty ramp. (Liked it up to that point)
Paladin's Quest took a lot of getting used to and seemed preachy at times. (Liked it, headbutt all day err day)

Even though I liked them, I could see how certain elements would turn off an audience.

But yeah, none of them really sold. I mean, other than DQ the series that got me into the genre was Lufia and that seemed to only do okay.

e: By series I'm not including Zelda or FF.
