I've just played Dark Souls, Skyrim, and a bit of Dragon Age. I don't think I can deal with another Western fantasy world, but I think I'm going to trade in Skyrim this week and get Dragon's Dogma. I've played mages recently, so I think I'll go with an Archer or a Magic Archer. How many games have used the Stinger move anyway? Besides the DMC games I've used it in Bayonetta and Marvel vs Capcom 3.

I just ordered Dark Arisen. I hope this scratches my Dark Souls itch. Any suggestions/tips before I start playing? Does the Fighter really play like Dante?

Can somebody clarify the save system? When I select 'RETRY' I'm usually kicked back to before the last few quests I did. The character creation is horrible for an indecisive guy like me. I keep worrying I screwed up my Small lightweight angry dwarf PC and my massive mage pawn. And I coulda made them look cooler, like Wander from Shadow of the Colussus or something. Too many options! When the Hydra swallows you are you meant to escape, 'cause I just got digested over several minutes.

My pawns are like a gang of kleptomaniacs, just smashing boxes and stealing poo poo wherever I go. I wish the pawns I hired would leave the armor and weapons for me without me needing to manually check their inventory. My Main Pawn sounds like the British comedian Miranda. Can I change her voice anywhere? Has the save bug been fixed? Does playing a Small character mean I can't throw things like pigs and pawns?

Thanks, thread. Since nobody seemed to be having any save bugs, I connected to XBox Live and downloaded a title update. It wiped my save game! I didn't lose much progress, but its still annoying starting from the beginning. Guess I'll try themed characters, like Adenture Time (Finn/Ice King) or Elric. Edit: I can get online, so add me. I tried the well quest after chopping off the hydra's head. Since the Saurians are cold-blooded and soaked in water, Ice King just froze them all. Looks like most everything else is weak to fire, so I don't think I'll actually give Ice King pawn just ice and healing spells.

Any tips on items or spells for my healbot mage main pawn? He just maxed out his Mage vocation, and he's pretty boring. Should I have him dip into sorcerer to pick up some more offensive spells while I rent a healer? And where can I find better armor so he's not so squishy? Gamertag is ChrisBrimstone. And I agree the progression is nuts. I went from killing bandits to cyclops in 5 levels.

DD has a bunch of features that feel like a mobile game - the asynchronous multiplayer that ncorages sharing your name and the currency you can buy with real money. I hope they don't go further in that direction.

Is there an XP penalty if you hire a higher level pawn? I got a healer who's about 6 levels ahead of me while I train my healer into a Sorc.

I don't think anyone has ever cared enough to figure out the math but I've seen people throw numbers around like "30%". Oh sweet. I think after he's back at a mage I'll just have my Main Pawn. At least until the game gets hard again.

I hosed up Fourival's quest somehow. I turned in 4 pieces of evidence (though one was Reynard's writ) in his favor, my pawns said he'd be found innocent, and yet he was found guilty! He deserved it but if looks like I screwed myself out of some awesome items. And I didn't do Escort Duty, so I'm locked out of the Gold Idol. Looks like a the items have alternate locations, though. BBI is exactly what I want the main game to be. Two questions: how do I avoid being stoned by the cockatrice? And are Beholders (or whatever they call the giant eyeball things) immune to magic? I wish they'd slightly rename Hundred Kisses so I could cut monsters a thousand kisses deep.

It's not a huge amount but it nicely offset some purification costs. I got the one that reduces fall damage, which I'm saving up for since I tend to jump off things. Thanks for whoever gave Ice King some BBI gear and dressed him in women's clothing. I got a ring that boosts my magic.
