I think they took the VAZ mechanicals and suspension, spruced up some of it a touch (ABS etc) and nailed it to a GM shell. I won't deny I kind of want one, but such a dated and agricultural drivetrain in a reasonably modern vehicle is just kind of weird. I'd rather a true Lada Niva over a Chevy Niva.
