Public opinion may have changed since I last read up on it though so take this with a grain of salt.

Yeah their website says they teach tile based mapping, pixel art, and conditional statements. If you're capable of reading the help file of RPG Maker VX Ace teaches you all about most of these things, and altering preexisting sprites for RPG Maker isn't exactly difficult, since you can do it in loving MS Paint.

God was that a horrible pile.
