I keep hearing "oh the caravans suck because they die too easily" when that isn't my experience. I keep getting rather crowded areas (I think I have city states set up above average for the world size) which are relatively safe even with raging barbarians on after everyone expands just a bit. When there's a bunch of cities effectively next door to each other it makes it a lot safer for caravans, which makes them very good money makers.

I was playing as Venice this morning and, with the help of a couple Military CS gifts, was able to police my caravan routes no problem. Why would you send a caravan unguarded if you wouldn't send a worker or settler unguarded? Just post them on Sentry mode on a hill, and you've probably got at least half the route covered.

Which map templates make interesting maps? I also heard some of the map templates were adjusted for BNW though I haven't exactly done any tests yet (I am only just getting ready to play).

Small Continents with a Low Sea Level seems to simulate realistic Continents fairly well, the only downside is there's not as many rivers as I'd like. When will intrepid goons fix Perfect World 3 once again?!

There's an annoying bug now where you can access menus while you're waiting for your turn, but the game won't register any changes you make. Even if your turn begins while you're in a menu, you have to go all the way back to the main screen and then reopen the menu before it'll respond.

I do't think that's a bug - or, rather, it should probably let you once the beginning of your turn starts, but before then I'm pretty sure any changes you made wouldn't actually go through until your turn started anyway.

Those are technically issues with the game, not the script itself. The problem with PW3 is that it puts a lot of land on the map "seam." There's a configuration variable that does a pretty good job of fixing it though, you just have to edit a couple lines in the script.

Each great work has a unique name, artwork, and the books have quotes. There is naturally only a limited number of these made by Firaxis and in 22 civ games, you're going to run into that relatively quickly. It may not be balanced for high civ counts particularly well, but it's definitely intended for there to be a limit.

I should probably rephrase that to say I don't believe there was intended to be a practical limit, although I don't think Firaxis really designs the game for 22-civ games anyway.
