Yeah, snagged the tachyokinetic for the deltalt. I was originally saving up the lobi I'd gotten during the lobi events for that T6 battlecruiser, then they were all, 'Hey guess what the T6 ships cost way more lol', and I wasn't gonna hand over money for lockboxes just to get that ship for one character.

Mogai is bestgai. Still not spending any real money on this game, may shell out EC for the fleet modules if a fleet version comes out. And then only if the OP mogai consoles will work on it.

(Edit: It'll be a little bonkers if the mogai shield consoles do work, combined with the new shield consoles and the eptw trait those ships will be monsters. Still not worth giving money to them, though.)

Guys,

We have to stop Xean from getting this unmoderated player-controlled point banning system from being implemented. It could literally destroy us as a faction in-game. Something needs to be done, and fast. All the spies in his armada won't count for much if everyone's muted in game, even if our other plans for his fleet reach fruition.

I feel bad for someone being that utterly broken. It has to be a pretty miserable life for someone to try so desperately to get meaning out of a lovely broken game like STO. Not too bad to still be amused by the insane hijinks, but I'd still be happy to hear that the guy got his poo poo together some day.

Anyone who says anything bad about the JHDC is a liar and likely a communist, don't listen to them. It's a loving monster with bugship pets, and the scramble fighters trait makes it just bonkers. Because the only thing better than a ship with tons of hull and four badass frigates is a ship with tons of hull and four invulnerable badass frigates. I could just park next to the crystalline entity and be all 'ha ha, get hosed' when it would do its explosion, promptly doing zero damage to the ship or the pets while the bugships continuously unloaded into it. The carrier itself is only decent; a 4/3 layout with four tac consoles isn't really a combat god and it turns like a dead yak, so just cover it in beams and FAW at anything that comes close while your bugships eat everything around you and you'll do great. Just keep an eye on the health of the pets and don't let them get too low unless you want them to ram something, because once they're under half hull they're liable to kamikaze into somebody.

Is it worth running scramble fighters on a flight deck cruiser? Or just a full carrier.

I wouldn't blow the spacebux on the scramble fighter trait for anything less than a full carrier. Normal fighters pop almost instantly when attacked, there's almost no window in which to see them taking damage, think 'oh gently caress, better push butan', and trigger the trait. It's really only beneficial to ships that have frigate pets.

I might shake the EC out of the piggy bank to get the fleet modules for that carrier to gently caress around with on my old Vesta captain. Honestly I preferred the Omega to the other designs; I liked the huge launch bays on its flanks. I was also okay with it having four nacelles, just wish that two of them weren't weird little gimpy ones. Hopefully it'll come with other nacelle options, though I doubt it.

I don't think anyone's actually considering paying cash for it. I'm certainly not. I'm considering getting fleet modules off the exchange to get the fleet version. I'm enough of a frigate carrier whore to dump credits for one, but I'm not about to hand over real cash.

The Reman shield's always had a neat visual effect on ships. It makes pretty much any ship into the cover of a trance album. I like it on a lot of the older ships, all of the weird glowing poo poo contrasts well with the simple art deco lines of the hull. On a lot of the newer ovals-and-curves ships it winds up looking like a mess.

Who handles the reimbursements for cash expenses? The GMs have been consistently charging more this year to provide their services, it's cost me a couple hundred in 'klondike bars' to keep them on my side for some issues. Worth every penny when they send the logs from the pubbies getting bans, but that's still a lot for me to be paying out of pocket.

The Arbiter's default saucer looks too flat and sharp-edged to me-- it's a Federation ship! It should be a bulbous flying saucer with windows everywhere! Fortunately, the Avenger saucer is exactly that. I ended up just using all the Avenger pieces, but I'm probably going to switch to the Arbiter hull and pylons.

The Arbiter's model mostly sucks. Get it, then switch the model to that of the Avenger, which looks vastly better. I personally kept the Arbiter nacelles on it, they're the only thing I liked from the Arbiter, and switched every other part out for Avenger parts.

I always thought the battle bridge on the Enterprise D was supposed to serve that purpose. Then I wonder why the hell they ever use the main bridge when they have a functionally identical, easier to defend spare bridge to use.

:words:The battle bridge was on the secondary hull and was meant for use when the saucer section had to gently caress off for whatever poorly-written reason that almost never occurred because the show was too broke to pay for the special effects to make saucer separation happen. The idea being that the hundreds of civilians on board would toddle off to safety in the saucer while the actual crewmembers would stay and fight. In practice, I don't think even once in the show was there an instance of a Galaxy class getting anyone to safety. Whenever a Galaxy was blown up, including when they participated in the Dominion war, they didn't bother unmounting the saucer first.:words:

I love the concept of the Jupiter and I have one, but I've not had great luck with it. Is there a good way to get the hanger pets from engagement to engagement? If they're actually on scene they're quite potent and fun to watch, but if a map involves full impulsing from fight to fight (like most do) I end up sitting there acting like an oversized sci boat until the escorts meander over.

Hit the button to recall the pets back into your ship before you go full impulse. Because yeah, otherwise they take ten minutes to bumble their way over to you. That isn't how hangar pets used to behave, either. Something relatively recent broke it.

Welp, on the one hand the Motion Picture Enterprise-A has always been my favorite, and having it in OP T6 form is tempting. On the other, I'll never in a million years afford it unless some pubbie somewhere fucks up the exchange listing and I get astoundingly lucky.

...on the third hand, joining STFs in a T1 Connie and hearing people ooh and ahh over it until they realize it's just a T1 and explode in rage does have some real potential.

Aux cannons work fine on a Vesta. I filled the front with them and stuck 360-degree stuff on the back, then slotted the aux-based Vesta consoles and the (Tholian?) traits that scale up damage with aux power. You won't be topping the charts against actual competent players, but you'll be more than good enough to handle the game's content.
