I would have had Pool's - I had 8 kills, was against a Valentine, and htey had an SU-26 (incidentally idle) so I was feeling good. I hit the Valentine down to 30 hp....and our Luchs stole the kill. That was the only shot he fired at the Valentine. I didn't take it very well, so I punished our Luchs and their SU-26. My team was not happy that I won the game for them.

The stock gun has slightly better DPM and handling with only 4mm less pen, while the top gun only has 15 shells.

I grinded the 128 with the 105. The 105 is definitely a usable gun for that tier, but the 128 is what you'll ultimately want (because otherwise you're driving a tier 7 Dicker Max.) As CitizenKain mentioned, though, you will definitely need to be careful with your shots, because every miss will hurt. You won't be able to risk cupola shots, or snap shots, or anything other than a sure hit once you mount the 128. I never actually ran out of shells with it, but I held a lot more shots than I would've with the 105. You'll eventually want to get that gun though, I would just say you could stand grinding it out rather than free-XPing it.

It is that I have not seen a tier 9 or 10 game in it, at all in the few matches I have played so far. I could be very very lucky with mm tonight. but that just does not sit right in WoT.

I'm pretty sure the MM is skewed due to the missions. There are probably a lot more people playing tiers 5-8 (since there are "kill higher-tier tank" requirements) so you're getting more favorable MM. Conversely, there are basically no sealclubbers in tiers 1-5, so it's been a lot of fun stomping shitters in those tiers.

In particular, I finished the grinds on both the Sherman 3 and the Archer. The Sherm is loving gone now, and I don't miss it; I'm keeping the Archer because it's loving awesome. Any of you guys who were whining about it need to get gud.

And this was how the Archer grind ended up:

So is there a consensus, Achilles or Firefly to the Challenger? I have both of the former unlocked (and am aware that the latter is underwhelming.) Looks like the Achilles is faster, but the Firefly has better traverse and armor (lol) with a worse gun.

Thanks for the Achilles/Firefly input, although we clearly haven't reached a consensus on which is preferred! I'm going to get both anyway when they're on sale (just because I can, both are already unlocked as I said yesterday) so I guess I'll try them and see which I prefer, but obviously it would be counter-productive to grind them simultaneously as they lead to the same tank. Maybe if only one goes on sale first I'll just grind that.

Oh yeah, did anyone watch my Archer replay on South Coast (or whatever the "Crimea" map is supposed to be)? I wanted to point out that not only did I predict where that T67 was going ahead of time (I pinged the map) because that's where I would've driven mine, I also called (to saintonan, over TS) that he was out of ammo as you can see from the replay. I didn't get to ~83% in the T67 by not knowing how to preserve its ammo!

Aramoro posted:

The T-34-85 is a solid medium, and the A-43 and especially the VK3001D trade the big gun for more gofast. (The old VK3001H was amazing. :rip:)

Nashorn, SU-100 & SU-100Y are OP TDs.

For other tanks, it would be more difficult to do if buffing them required making it less historically accurate, like adding a gun or finding a "new" higher-pen shell. The 13 75, for example: they'd have to over-buff pretty much everything about it, OR add a "new" gun between the 75 & 90 mm ones. AMX M4 45: add more armor? Friday was apparently Failplatoon Day, as my platoonmates can concur. Pretty much every game had wildly mismatched platoons, like a regular + pref + scout of the same tier, or a tier 4 arty + tier 5 premium + tier 6 scout (hooray for tier 4 arty in a tier 8 match!)

Unrelated to the above, which gun do you prefer on the T1 Cunningham? It's a tank that I basically hadn't touched in over 3 years, and ironically I don't really know how to play it now any better than I did when I first started. :toot: When I dusted it off the other day I found that the 37 mm Browning, which appears to be the best choice, has abysmal handling & aim time. I hosted some about 2-3 weeks ago. We won the first few at tier 8 and then lost like the last 6 in a row. :saddowns:

The ranks do have different permissions, except some of them are duplicates and thus basically exist to help sort your members. The XOs are active leaders (i.e. go to them for any issue you'd come to me for) & Recruiters obviously do their thing. Recruits are just brand-new members that I reassign once I recognize that they're active, and I use the Reservist category for inactive players that may be booted the next time I need to free up space. The rest of the categories are literally for all the rest of the regular members, and are functionally equivalent. I originally assigned them based on how active the players were, or how familiar I was with them; there are quite a few players in PANSY who are very active yet I've never played with or spoken to them for some reason (because they don't platoon or use TS) so they're not "ranked" very high, except again, the categories are being used for sorting rather than ranking. I actually have to go in and reassign permissions, which I'll do in the near future to free up some more slots. I already did some rearranging to add more Recruiters. Basically, I look for active, responsible members for XO positions, experienced members for Recruiters, and then I just want to limit access to the treasury (which I exclusively use for rewarding members who are hilarious.)

Maybe that is how they should be played? I don't really know. I just do stupid poo poo in them. Every now and again it works out and I have a blast.

That's not a bad assessment. Basically, you need to stay alive in any tank if you want to deal damage and win games. Scouts generally have good camo, so you can either active or passive scout for your team while preserving your own HP, then clean up at the end (the last two parts being important for most other tank types as well.)

It's just a different playstyle, more of a heavy medium than a true heavy. That RoF and extra mobility can help you do certain things compared to a slower, heavier tank. I got a Kolobanov's in mine, for what that's worth.

The latter was trying to recruit the former, and mentioned that a lot of the ex-FORGE guys from -G- had left to form ESPRT, so I figured that was part of the migration. I recognize quite a few of those names in your screenshots from FORGE/ANVIL, and others (e.g. Naga, Friction) are doing the 1337 Pr0 G4m1ng thing, so it wouldn't surprise me if they dropped due to lack of time for the less-"srs bsns" stuff.

It's never just one thing. G kicked a bunch of people for inactivity, then started recruiting people to fill those slots. Since this is a dying game and G's reputation has been taken down a notch recently with other rival clans getting better, G was faced with either not recruiting or setting the bar for admission lower. They chose the latter, and that reinforced the idea that the G tag might not be the Internet tank nerd status symbol it used to be. That led a couple of high profile streamers to reassess their reason to be in the clan, and decide to leave. G has always had a significant number of antisocial spergs like you find in elite guilds of any online computer game, and for some the current unrest is a decent reason to cut ties with people they don't really like.

So... they couldn't figure out that you only kick inactives when you have a replacement lined up? Like, for the purposes of holding chips, inactives are still valuable. ESPRT landed to the north of PBKAC and started butchering PUPEH (no longer a PETCO sub-clan since Alphyn is gone) and BUNEH (who held Vermont and New Hampshire for offset stacks and because no one else wanted it). We (since I was still in the clan at that point) tried to fight off ESPRT like a good parent clan and proceeded to get our poo poo pushed in night after night, up to and including losing NYC to them a few times. I - not to put much weight on it - got tired of hearing the same poo poo being said night after night, so I 'pulled a SirMolle' (EVE Goons will know what this means) yet still checked up on how things were going.

So imagine my surprise when all of a sudden ESPRT has retreated from PBKAC land and held all of PUPEH, BUNEH, and 1-2 PBKAC provinces while PBKAC pretty much controls everything status quo anti-fuckem.

Not long after that Gyarados kicks ~1/3 of the clan for 'inactivity' (with no prior notice via PM or a flash message via teamspeak) and brings in BADGR actives whom, and I quote from my convo with him, "are around and still care." And since, if you check that website for random adds, have been accepting a bunch of 'why the gently caress'-grade applicants as well.

I haven't been keeping up entirely with recent events, but after BULBA decided to come in and make some cat stew, PBKAC decided to go down and (I hope) scrimmage with the RDDT parent clan, because it was painful watching the tug of war going on over Atlanta. Now it seems that PBKAC's been allowed to 'have' most of the 'ancestral homeland' back because OTTER has their south flank and the NAP is evidently still solid with ESPRT. Again, this is all mostly a guess just from casual observation and a bit of insight.

TL;DR: PBKAC NDP-ed itself when a sub-commander decided to pull an Anderson, and OTTER is the new S-G-LE.

Are you saying that PBKAC is...a paper tiger? (Sorry, sorry, I'll go kill myself now.)

I will say that I'm still surprised that Gyarados kicked all those members (and looking at the list, there sure are a lot of goons on it.) Is Ziddy really out of the picture?

On the other hand, I can totally understand a lot of the kicked players being inactive simply due to being burnt out at this game. They've been around for a long time, and the only reason I'm not burnt out is because I only get the chance to play (anything) a couple days a week. Can't really get myself burnt out when any kind of gaming is a welcome break from a lovely job. :unsmith:
