So I was reading through Poppy O'Possum again and some of the foreshadowing in this chapter was pretty nuts. I mean, that giant boar that wrecked the place up got big because it was fed something "unnatural." And Valente showed up because he got a tipoff from some weird monk who giggles all the time. And I wonder where that weird hand got off to?

"human being" is used as often as "the." After awhile, there's a HUGE twist in the plot and the story changes dramatically. I've been looking for it but can't remember the name for the life of me. Please help goons! It Hurts!! It's got its own thread and everything.

Leona from Prague Race might be one of the most irritating protagonists I've seen in recent memory, and I don't think it's deliberate. Like she's kind of a really lovely and manipulative person and yet the narrative always dances away from giving her a full rebuke in favor of making her seem quirky and sympathetic, it's getting super annoying!

95% of Skin Deep's cast also seems to consist of wealthy dilettantes who exist entirely in coffeeshops and/or snarky bohemians who appear to make a living out of nothing but underground music gigs and poo poo-talking their friends, so it makes the whole social-struggle angle even harder to swallow.

No, that's a pretty fair take from what I saw of it. It pushed the persecution angle pretty hard but the monsters live in what looks like an upscale gated community and the unresolved homoerotic tension is laid on so thick that you could copy-paste a speech bubble reading "JUST KISS" into every panel without really losing the overall effect.

I decided a few years ago that I was going to stop reading and wait to marathon the rest after it was all finished, and they're still roughly at the same place I left off at? I'm not even sure what Hussie has been doing these days; it feels like the constant drawn-out pauses killed Homestuck's popularity and momentum. He's been trying to salvage a disastrously mismanaged and ill-fated Kickstarter game, for the most part (the original dev team snatched all the money and dumped it into another project, with no legal recourse).

Rand Brittain posted:It's really quite impressive how unnerving Lackadaisy manages to be for a cute comic about moonshine cats. I remember when Tracy was posting her first sketches of the series (I was still in high school then, Jesus Christ) and it was still this silly, cartoony little thing about moonshinin' cats with guns and Rocky's antics were straight comedy relief. Now it's a look at the nastier side of Prohibition-era bootlegging affairs focusing on a small cast of broken, directionless people trying to hold on to the few scraps of influence they have in a business they've long since lost, even as it kills them a little more every day. With cats. e: it's especially jarring contrasted with her side comics, where Rocky and Mordecai are still a zany goofball and a dour straight man rather than a desperate, friendless miscreant with a head wound and a death wish, and a slightly lighter take on Anton Chigurh. I got farther than most but I just couldn't get through it. Had a lot of cool forums adventures come out of its forums though, not even including the ones that became standalone webcomics. I love forums adventure style stuff and wish there was more of it. They dispersed. MLP and SU were probably the main recipients, but they also briefly surged to OFF (a weird but cool French freeware rpg), and Undertale probably owed a lot of its popularity to Homestuck's residual popularity.
