When I move near a person with a speech bubble over their head, there's a visual effect like a glint of light flying from them to me. What is this? The game didn't say anything about it, and I can't find anything in the manual, all it says about these people is that I'll overhear a conversation if I go near them, which is pretty obvious. I don't think it's an affinity thing, these people aren't named characters.

Look at your map. Some areas of NLA should have "new" labels scattered around, tap them to see what you can find in those places. Some of them will tell you that a character usually hangs out there, others will be missions you can pick up at those spots.

To switch between the different parts of NLA on the map you have to back out to the whole world view, the NLA districts will be on the right. This is also how you fast travel back to NLA from outside, since someone was asking about that earlier.

Booster probes increase the effect of any adjacent probes by a percentage, I think 10% for the rank 1s?
Duplicator probes copy (ie: double) the effect of any adjacent probes.

Boosters increase the effect of duplicators, so the best way to use them seems to be to plant a duplicator at a spot where four lines meet, then hook it up to a booster and three other probes (research, storage, mining, whatever) for huge gains.
