Can Melee Splash support Molten Strike? The actual attack is single target stop I could see it maybe working, but it also has an aoe effect so it probably doesn't.

I've played exclusively hardcore since the early days of Diablo 2, and I think there's a certain mindset that you have to have. It's not "trying never to die", it's "seeing how far you can get until you die", a subtle but important difference. The make or break point for being a hc player is your first death. That first death, or first death of a fairly well advanced character, is a toughie and I'd guess it's where most people nope out of hardcore. If you can deal with that one, it becomes much easier to accept future deaths. And after awhile, softcore seems kind of pointless by comparison.

White 6ls aren't that expensive if you're willing to settle for a non top tier base. I got a white body armor 6l, I think the one that is clvl 56ish (so, two tiers below astral iirc) for 2 exa. Got decently lucky with rolling it and got t1 flat armor, t2 or t3 armor %, t2 life, and a t1 resist with room to craft a resist within 15 chaos and called it good. Maybe I just got a bargain though.

Most races, in my experience, it's fairly easy to hit a mid-level point tier. Like the 6 point tier in that above example. 20 races that you do decent in should be enough to get a Whispering Ice.

Question about Vaal Pact / Ghost Reaver mechanics. If you take both, does Vaal Pact's life regen debuff apply to energy shield recharge or does ES still recharge on its own and so I should still take relevant "faster start to recharge rate" nodes?

Gambling via crafting is so stupid, but I can never resist the temptation. Found a 320 ES shield with 95% crit, +1% block, 2 open slots. Scrap it, threw a divine on it, now it's a 401 ES shield with 89% crit, +3% block, still 2 open slots (prefix and suffix). Cool! poe.trade suggests maybe 6 ex on tali hc. "But!" I wonder, "what if I crafted cast speed and then managed to yolo ex high spell damage! At that point it's nearly mirror worthy!" Of course my exalt results in 32 mana. Oh well, still a nice shield. I'll probably just throw it on my stupid glacial cascader when she levels up a bit. e: and yes, I probably should have reversed the order of master crafting and exalting. Well, that went about as expected. Trash mobs were so easy I was thinking it was a bit overrated, the difficulty. The double vaal guardians I did decent damage on but turns out they do decent damage on me too.

I swap between Glacial Hammer and Infernal Blow depending on the zone and mob resistances therein. With 10% more aoe from the tree and a 5L Marohi, my Infernal Blow in particular (since it's 18q) clears entire screens. Combine that with Blasphemy - Warlord's and whatever that spell that gives you attack speed and leech and frenzy charges at the cost of life degen is, I'm always running with 5 endurance and 3 frenzy charges and am just wrecking poo poo.

Made my first flicker strike build. Using Oro's Sacrifice, etc. It's the most absurd thing I've ever seen and I'm going to die horribly to reflect at some point even with 100% Ruby Flask uptime. But it's so ridiculously over the top that it'll probably be the build that gets me to keep playing even after I get booted from HC into standard.

Yep, Daresso is orders of magnitude more dangerous than Kaom, especially for non-armor builds. Whatever your build or class, always bring a granite of iron skin flask when you fight Daresso.

I've tried to make it work in the past, but I think this will finally be the league where I pull off a Wild Strike / EE build that can make it into maps. Assuming they don't nerf Scion ascendencies, that is. It's such a powerful combo and completely wrecks through A2 merciless in previous attempts, the play style is tons of fun too. It's an interesting set of challenges to overcome; for example, how to scale damage up when literally every single damage aura (aside from Haste, if you count that) actually hugely lowers your damage.

So here is my proposed build https://www.pathofexile.com/passive...fMRZlRG17FCAAA= (put into offline skill planner obv) Astramentis for neck to cover necessary dex requirements, and to give me a bit more evasion, accuracy, and life. Doedre's ring so I can run Blasphemy - Ele weak and Enfeeble. AA as well. That jewel, forget its name, that gives increased cold and fire damage in my jewel nodes. Wild Strike - Multi - WED - BM - (LL / LGOH / one of the ele penetration gems (fire, most likely, since I have an extra 1% resist on that) / Ice Bite / FA / Melee Phys (I've read conflicting things on whether this actually helps anything other than the tooltip dps) / Innervate / Inc Crit Chance / IDK). Gonna have to see what works best for 5th and 6th link. Or I could just run Fortify in there; instead of Whirling - FA - Fortify - Inc Duration. Defense mainly provided by flasks; with the Alchemist cluster and the Pathfinder ascendency, should have virtually 100% uptime for a Granite of Iron Skin and Stibnite of Evasion. Also need a Ruby of non-shock, Saphire (or w/e cold res one is) of anti-bleed, probably a life of anti-freeze or if I want max dps, that flask that shocks everything. Also run Blood Rage ofc. My attack speed should be ridiculously high and even with base crit I should have 100% uptime on Ele Overload, I figure. Reflect will be a problem, even with Enfeeble and flasks, but we'll see how bad it is. Ele Hit - WED - Multi - BM for single target maybe? Bandits: Life, Aspd, Frenzy.
