Its one reason I like old Audis, the transmission are overbuilt as hell, which is one reason you can basically attach whatever engine you want without worrying about blowing it with power mods. You'll break the engine before you shred the transmission.

That'd be interesting for sure. Only issues I can think of would be starter location, but I suspect you could easily resolve that with an adapter plate that moves it.

the only thing giving me pause is that it's a pretty dense board, with everything surface-mount (I've soldered a couple through hole things before). there's maybe a millimeter gap between the battery holder and the board when assembled, so if I solder to the contacts it'd have to be right at the board. plus on that side there's not much space to run wires to the side.

those contacts stick through the other side, maybe if I drill a hole through the front side of the thing I could run em through there.

aaaaaand that red wire just broke, gently caress me sideways. guess i've got at least that much soldering to do.

btw if there's a more appropriate thread for this sort of thing let me know.

As Kastein said, this should be a piece of cake. If you don't already have one, go pick up a vacuum desoldering iron (either has an electric vacuum pump or a red handpump bulb) and just desolder the passthrough and put a new wire in.

OR: Upgrade and put in pins and make the wires easier to connect/disconnect to the board.

It doesn't even have to be something massively collectible. A half-decent Miata or similar will likely hold value pretty well, same with a lot of generic daily-driver type cars at the bottom end of the market. Generally, once you're in the territory of value being about what it is/does and condition, rather than age or mileage, you're probably fairly safe.

It will hold a MINIMUM of value, but not original re-sale, which is what half these Criagslist fucks think they will get.
