No Picard was right, the Iconians became evil because the Federation, Klingons and Romulans sent a task force back in time to stop the Iconians in past. They get there and discover the Iconiand were peaceful, so the Klingons and Federation decide "Nope, we can't kill these dudes, let'shelp them escape!" But Sela, who went back with you, keeps trying to help the alliance that formed agaisnt them kill them which causes them to swear vengeance on the galaxy in general and Romulus in particular. Back in the present you call up the Iconians and say, "Hey, we're the ones who helped you escape!" And the Iconians all go "poo poo, you're right, sorry about the genocide and planet killing!" And then they gently caress off.

Still better then Picard.

The Royale has to be one of the funniest episodes for showing the TNG crew completely baffled by 20th century concepts.

I actually like that episode for all of its many faults. I just like the idea they have to play along with the Casino rules.

I’ll remind the Bajorans that they didn’t have all the nice roads they do now that we built to the space ports we also built (and then destroyed) to strip mine their planet. Also consider how well they now keep records of course a testament to our enlightening them.

Like the one where they invent the delta flyer.

There was that amazing city/colony in the delta quadrant populated by famous humans from all over the timeline. It's just over the hill, Amelia Earhart is there!

No you can't see it.

So glad we spent the budget on landing the ship.

Season 3 of Picard involves using the nexus to go back to the events of Starship Mine so that Patrick Stewart can hunt the most dangerous game of all: himself, pretending to be in Die Hard

I genuinely love that dumb episode. Also Rascals.

By the way my issue with Generations in not the Trilitium stuff. It’s killing off Rene and Robert offscreen. Both as you’d have to had watched the episode to get the context of their deaths. (Compare this to me having never watched BoBW at ten and seeing First Contact and getting Picard hated the borg) as well as killing anyone off screen always seems cheap.

So the rather bad (even when you ignore it’s loving with canon on Galadriel and the Hobbits) RoP is being derided for both being slow and having rather derivative action scenes. (of the Witcher where such scenes work) and the creatives behind Picard have been defending it. Seriously what is it with all the writers in Hollywood being in lockstep?

By the way Worf was the good guy in the Risa Episode. Also let the planet be the wet world it’s meant to be. Sounds funner then horny swinger land.

Nah, there's a lot of RoP's defence among industry folks because of how undeniably bad-faith so much of the online criticism is. The show may well have issues - I haven't seen it yet - but it's blatantly obvious most of the huge terrible discourse online has nothing to do with the show's quality and it's being used as a vehicle.

It's one of those unfortunate situations where it's probably going to be impossible to have a legitimate critical discussion about the actual show most places for a while.

Mostly it seems like a boring show that copies GOT and Witcher. But I’ll admit seeing anyone involved in the abortion that is Picard defending it just puts me on full shitposter mode.

In my experience, hacky plagiaristic showpeople actually just think being hacky and plagiaristic is good storytelling.

Turns out they’re (show runners of RoP)friends with JJ, and he suggested Amazon bring these guys whose entire credit before hand was the writing the action sequences in Beyond. Seriously can that hack just go the gently caress away? Lost was not that good of a show, neither was Alias. Why do the suits in Hollywood worship him and all of his loving orbiters.

I should rewatch Genesis. As soon as I can get a copy of TNG on Blu-ray.
