Apropos of not much but they evidently they both went to Hunter College High School, which is basically the Harvard of public high school.

I'm not the typical Chapo listener and I don't think the rest of the questions are awful or anything, but I was going to say the first point was the only one I was interested in hearing their response to.

Sure, but if you care about that outcome (say, more than you care about not touching elbows with normies) then you should want some muscle behind that idea.

Man your standards are high and/or you have been really lucky with your improve exposure. (IMO Gareth is very good... riffing off but staying with a story is kind of a tightrope... Dave, well, he can read OK at least)

It's also the same thing they pointed out about Garland, in the accepting-Republican-frame way, i.e. "surely they'll have to care about this, otherwise they will be revealed as hypocrites!". Conservatives are supposed to be the ones freaked out about Russia etc.

My main issue was always that it was a very close election so yeah maybe it (or 1000 other things you could choose to highlight instead) "caused" Hilary to lose, but I still couldn't care about inflammatory facebook posts or whatever since Real Americans made thousands of those on their own.

It's probably the money, yeah. The other specifics, based on how things have everywhere forever (i.e. I could be totally off):
If they're dirtbag leftists it's probably because they resent New Yorkers / hipsters / rich armchair socialists who don't do things.
If they're intellectual/theoretical leftists it's because Chapo isn't left enough or the wrong kind of left.

Agree that his cynicism kind of bleeds over his blindspots about the population/electorate at large. Also, please vote even if it won't get us out of this mess.

Isekai* can be a formula for a person to unmoor a narrative from the grinding pinions of society in order to completely and fully tell on themselves, unfortunately. If they're all terrible yeah you start to wonder if it shades towards a culture telling on itself, though presumably the genre is not attracting the best / "is not sending us their best". Not that US culture is any prize, mind you.

*and, to a lesser extent, science fiction and fantasy generally... but I think having things start on earth (generally) means you're basically reading/watching somebody's daydream.

Of note to goons, it seems mormons can "give up" on weirdos in their families and communities. Not to the extent Scientologists will call people suppressive people or whatever, but still a thing. Presumably it started in part because of the polygamy (had to cull dudes because there weren't enough women to go around), though women will get pressured out too if they're apostates or whatever. Anyway this obviously happens in every religion / community to some extent I just tend to hear from / meet mormon ones more often. I grew up in Colorado and some of them would land there, though we had a share of just normal mormons too. Anyway, it's tempting to say they're doing them a favor or whatever but it screws people up.

(I have not seen "big love" though supposedly this is a theme in the show.)
