So 'locker room talk' is what they're going with? Cause who among us haven't bragged about a sexual assault on an unwilling participant?
I think they're completely blind as to how what Trump said was bad. Like, they have no idea that he's bragging about groping/assaulting women. And they're just outright ignoring him wanting to gently caress a married woman. Whether it's out of willful ignorance or just a startling disconnect from reality, who knows.
So instead they interpret it as liberals being angry that Trump was talking about sex. I think that's why so many of them are saying "what's the big deal?" And "eh this will blow over by the debate". They legitimately think that it's just liberals showing faux-outrage over their candidate saying the word "pussy". And who hasn't said that before, am I right? Stop being so triggered, liberals!

Falwell wrote in Breitbart that the backlash from Friday's tape was manufactured by the GOPe, in case you were wondering where that came from. It's opinion, not fact, but, well, Breitbart.
It should still be pointed out that Falwell and a bunch of other evangelical leaders are still in favor of Trump. This stands in direct opposition to everything that anyone might have expected from the evangelical bloc in any previous election. I sincerely hope that the remains of the GOP stop pandering to them and they're forced to admit their status as Deplorables.
Yeah, it's gonna be real interesting to see if the Religious Right can maintain their identity in the aftermath of this election. The establishment side of it - Liberty University, the remnants of the Moral Majority, organizations like the American Family Association - has almost entirely de-masked by this point. Their nakedly hypocritical support of Trump may be popular with Freepers and other people who just treat Christianity like a tribal classification, but I'd have to imagine that this election cycle has gotten a lot of genuine Evangelicals feeling very alienated.

Oh man, I love being reminded that there's a portion of the population in which the Satanic Panic never stopped. Of all the stupid things to be bitter about, there's still some of them bitching about the New Deal?
It's one of the many milestones in American history that far-righters have interpreted as "the turning point for America". It's their way of justifying hating the gently caress out of contemporary American culture, while still claiming to love America's core ideals and what the founders fought for. Gotta have things start going downhill at SOME point.
Other freeper turning points include the election of Lincoln (filthy socialist ruined the South!), the Constitutional Convention (The Articles of Confederation were just fine, but then the evil Catholics ruined everything!), and Ellen Degeneres' character coming out of the closet on her sitcom (self-explanatory).

I cannot even begin to imagine the roiling chaotic hellscape that must be the inner thoughts of a confurvative.
His pet issue was definitely guns, and how Obama/Hillary was gonna issue the order to start rounding them up Any Day Now!
He seemed civil enough in the brief conversations I had with him, but his Facebook was a never-ending stream of "A village in Kenya is missing it's idiot" and "It's a MAGAZINE, not a CLIP, Lamestream Media!" memes. He didn't seem to have much of a problem with homosexuality (I roomed with him at a sci-fi convention, and half the people in the room were queer, including myself), which is probably how he kept any resemblance of sanity.

So this may be a dumb question, but wouldn't shutting down all these hate sites, doxxing all the Nazis at rallies, etc etc. just make them more apt to band together and start some poo poo? Not specifically FR, but all these alt-right and Nazi idiots? Is it crazy to think they'd all get together over a shared  marginalization and start just one large group? I was thinking about this the other day, and there have been a few groups over the course of history that have been formed thanks to the general public driving them underground. Is this a possibility, or am I just misreading things?
It's a possibility, but I think any banding together that happens would be pretty short-lived. The 90's "patriot" movement achieved something similar by utilizing the persecution-by-the-government narrative after Ruby Ridge and Waco, but quickly re-splintered due to white nationalists being highly unpleasant and hard to get along with.
The Oklahoma City bombing did happen partially as a result of this, though, so it's not something that can just be dismissed out of hand.

Well this a low light for the evening, friggin drag queen beats an incumbent Republican. Look at this thing’s picture, where are Nathan Lane and Kevin Spacey? Anyway, bad election in VA. Gillespie was slaughtered in NOVA and lost by 9 points, hard to see how Stewart could have done much worse though I still think he was a crummy candidate too who has no chance of winning the Senate race. We probably needed an ace candidate to win this one. Losses for other 2 races (LT Guv, AG) as well though they were a closer, 5 and half and 6 and half points respectively.
It’s disheartening but remember, these are rat holds, not gains, and despite a few recent polls showing a near tie or narrow R lead (amidst many others that did not) they were expected to win this throughout. VA is now unfortunately a bit of a “blue” or should I say “poo” state where rats had won 3 of the last 4 Gov elections and last 3 Presidential.
The worst part is the State House, Rs had a significant edge going and it looks like it’s lost. State Senate not up till 2019 (21-19 R edge). Redistricting will be handled by the leg elected in that year not this one. But unfortunately Governor Abortionist does have a veto even if we win the leg in 2 years.
Liberal scum are pardon by French, jizzing in their pants that it’s all to do with Trump, proof he’s toast and that Republicans should run away from him and that Queen Nancy can measure the drapes in the Speaker’s office. I’d hold my horses, this was a gubernatorial not Congressional election and in a state that Trump LOST not one he won. I don’t see how Nancy Pelosi odds have improved any.
Other results, rat won in NJ, that was certain. He’s gonna be a bad Governor and give the state GOP a chance to recover. Christie blames Trump, which is funny.
Mayor Wilhelm Von Stalin was reelected in NY, unfortunately that was certain. Looks like Rob Astorino is out in Weschester County, not good.
Other mayoral results across the country, not good. Rat incumbent in St. Pete FL narrowly reelected over popular GOP predecessor. GOP incumbents lose in Atlantic City NJ, Fayetteville NC, Annapolis MD, Manchester NH. Rat’s hold Charlotte NC.
Rats won a couple GOP seats in low turnout special elections for state House in GA.
RINO wins the Congressional Special Election in Utah. He needs to be primaried out, he only won because of divided conservative vote in the special primary.
Overall, not a good for America, filth were obviously motivated to turnout. But chill they are no closer to controlling Congress, or any state other than VA. They aren’t gonna win in Alabama and they still have an f-ton of Senators up in TRUMP states. GOP voters have every reason to turn out to support the President next year.

Q Anon stuff is starting to leak into the far right media bubble - a lot of Jerome Corsi-level hucksters are starting to run articles relating to "the storm", and even if they aren't true believers, they are at least entertaining the idea. More and more freepers are going to get sucked into it before all is said and done.
At first I was surprised by how much traction this ridiculous bullshit is getting, but one of my friends explained it to me well - this whole thing is just what happens when you take "Trump is playing 5D chess" and stretch it to it's breaking point. These people voted Trump in because they wanted him to be this ultra-effective virtual tyrant, who would throw all the bad guys (i.e. Hillary) in jail, get the Mexican wall built within the year, bypass Congress whenever they tried to resist him, etc. What they GOT is a highly-ineffective, whiny twitter celebrity with only a handful of "accomplishments" under his belt.
But since these people have etched the idea of "god-emperor Trump" into their heads, they don't want to confront that reality. No, Trump is still doing all the good things and putting the bad guys in jail! He's just doing it... in secret, yeah! He'll let us know soon, just be patient and trust in Q!
And that's how a bunch of people are now convinced that both Bush Sr. And Bush Jr. are now in cells in Guantanamo Bay. I'll add my voice to the people asking for a Q Anon thread, this poo poo is fascinating and horrible in equal measure.

I want to know what other gay movies Neoliberalnot has been watching, that's awful specific.
Freeper-types seem to base their entire viewpoint on homosexuality mostly on Paul Cameron reports. He was a hideously anti-gay "researcher" from back in the 80's, and was the source of a lot of Freeper anti-gay standbys, such as "Their life expectancy is 20 years younger than average" and "17% of them love consuming human feces".
If you ever see someone reacting to a picture of two guys kissing on Freep with "UGH BUT THEY HAVE POOP ALL OVER THEIR LIPS BARF ALERT", that's why. It was just someone who really hated gay people taking advantage of the scared public during the AIDS crisis. It's the gay version of "Everything I need to know about Islam I learned on 9/11".

This actually doesn't surprise me that much, since KJV-Onlyism is the most popular among Baptist sects that make hatred of Catholicism a core tenant. It's their attempt to "claim" a version of the Bible that is free from all evil antichrist Catholic Illuminati influence. Freep seems to be pretty tolerant of Catholicism, in a "oh we'll bicker with one another, but at the end of the day we still hate gay people so I guess we're in this together" sense.
Fun fact, the Independent Fundamentalist Baptists, the most-prominent voices in the KJV-Only movement, believe that we live in the world of Assassin's Creed, only replace "Assassin" with "Baptist" and "Templar" with "Catholic". Everything in the world can be boiled down to the Baptist forces fighting evil Catholic influences. The American Revolution? Baptist patriots fighting back against Catholic oppressors. The Crusades? Well, Islam was an evil cult created by the Catholics, so any time the forces of Christianity won, it was thanks to the Baptists, but when they lost, it was due to the Catholics. 9/11? Oh I just know the Catholics are behind it somehow.
KJV-Onlyism is crazy and stupid, yeah, but not Freep's specific strain of crazy and stupid.

Watching them flail around trying to explain why a Republican president with a Republican House, Republican Senate, and Republican-controlled Supreme Court can't seem to deliver on any of his Republican campaign promises has been a reliable form of entertainment these past 14 months
Yeah, in the months between the election and Trump's swearing-in, I needed to avoid this thread, because I had nightmares of Freep getting exactly what they wanted - a hyper-competent Republican machine, headed by a regressive, bullheaded monster, that would just power in all of his campaign promises within the first few months. While I don't want to downplay the damage Trump has been doing to our country and democratic processes, I was eventually able to come back after realizing, man, he's not really doing much for them, is he?
Nowadays, Freep slowly realizing that Trump isn't their mental-constructed All-Powerful Conservative Father Figure is one of the things that keeps me going.

Oh I get that I just find it funny that for the bugaboo to work it has to be that Trump is an idiot. Unfortunately, you usually only see those sorts of freeper tears around the holiday season, when their bravado is truly stripped away and they need to confront the fact that their daughters don't want them near their grandkids.

I was disappointed to see that Freep isn't ranting about the military transgender ban being pushed back yet again.
A couple times I've had people ask me what I think of trans people in the military since I'm a Marine combat vet, and I don't want to get into a larger argument (that I have no background in anyway) about trans stuff in general, so I stick to military stuff and just say "hey, anyone willing to take a bullet!"
Freep actually doesn't give much of a gently caress about the specifics of LGBT rights legislation and court rulings - all they need to know is that Their Guy in the White House is on their side on the whole issue. That's probably largely the point of the attempted trans ban in the first place, just as a signal to the Religious Right that, hey, Trump still totally hates the gays just as much as you guys do, don't worry, give him votes.
