Hot Autopsy Take: The moment we accepted the comedy skit of Hillary turning into Bernie, America subconsciously knew we're getting milquetoast version of what should be, in a package mired in problems. The media is a reflection of ourselves

ThndrShk2k posted:You got the right place http://www.rcvmaine.com/ Push for RCV locally as well, remove the spoiler effect and fear from voting. If we had it in the primaries Bernie would've gotten the nomination and if we had it in the general, Hillary kinda might've maybe won.* It also can make it so that even if 2 candidates who appeal to similar issues but differently in method can still have friendly campaigns as the result of not needing to prevent the other from stealing votes(spoiling), which makes the share demographics more likely to like both of them and vote for both of them, in their own preferred order of course.

Hilario Baldness posted:Agreed, but I would point to the media. Bernie Sanders proposed a new system that would raise up all different groups (rising tide raises all buoys), and the media snubbed him and made it seem like he wasn't doing enough for the different ethnic minority groups when that was completely preposterous. And this isn't a series of posts serving as a sloppy blowjob for Bernie, but his movement had a lot of aspects that we need to take seriously. He said it was important to help the communities that have the longest generational poverty status, which are disproportionally minority. Republicans can't argue against helping poor people who have lovely run down towns because they're so poor, even if they are a black community or some other minority. I tried to explain that months ago during all the hallabahlub and got yelled at that white people deserve nothing and it should specifically target minority/black communities.

Not being aware of how the sausage is made really limits your effectiveness, and gates you from doing the stuff you promised/want to do. There's a reason congress is like 95% lawyers. The US Should update it's usability with laymans term translations of legalese. I also believe they should go a step further and translate it into logical scripting too.

MeatwadIsGod posted:I think anger can be a good motivator sometimes, in the "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore" sense. Social Security's genesis was one man being enraged at seeing two old women pick through garbage cans near his house. He just couldn't stand to live in a country where such a thing could happen. I do think the DNC needs to tap into that sense of anger felt by disaffected working class people of all stripes and channel it.
