On BAH: the military will survive without the "experienced" people. It basically drives them out already. Maybe this will just get rid of all the married people though, then we can just get rid if bah all together and invest that money into decent barracks. I actually hate that idea, but I'm trying to be realistic as a tax payer.

Gonna be interesting to see what happens to the military healthcare system when it's no longer 90% pregnancy/pediatrics.

i mean...... where does that leave us?

Well, look at the two sides:

The people claiming Russian interference is the BIG GOVERNMENT that's always ruining everything and a party of sore losers who don't represent real Americans.

The people being attacked for benefiting from Russian interference is the guy who promised to bring back your lovely coal job and fix all of your problems, his cronies who are going to grift a gorillian dollars from the economy, and the conservative assholes who have been salivating at the possibility of destroying anything that doesn't benefit super-rich assholes.

So, absolutely loving nothing is going to happen because the people in power aren't going to implicate themselves and the people who do care are going to get shouted down by Twitter and a news media focused on eyeballs-on-stories that will happily drop the subject when Trump tweets about something else.

This evening, I had the opportunity to speak with President-elect Donald Trump to discuss recent media reports about our briefing last Friday. I expressed my profound dismay at the leaks that have been appearing in the press, and we both agreed that they are extremely corrosive and damaging to our national security.

We also discussed the private security company document, which was widely circulated in recent months among the media, members of Congress and Congressional staff even before the IC became aware of it. I emphasized that this document is not a U.S. Intelligence Community product and that I do not believe the leaks came from within the IC. The IC has not made any judgment that the information in this document is reliable, and we did not rely upon it in any way for our conclusions. However, part of our obligation is to ensure that policymakers are provided with the fullest possible picture of any matters that might affect national security.

President-elect Trump again affirmed his appreciation for all the men and women serving in the Intelligence Community, and I assured him that the IC stands ready to serve his Administration and the American people.

Oh dear, they can't even use "cannot confirm nor deny". :allears:

I think this line of thinking, at least in public, really doesn't help regardless as to whether or not it's true. If it's cast as a partisan issue, then it only lends credibility to Trump's assertions that investigating the hacking is an attempt to undermine him by the Democrats and will make it harder to convince the McCains and Rubios of the world to vote in support of establishing a select committee to investigate it.

If the Republicans could get rid of Trump without drowning in a flood of rascal scooters and MAGA hats, they absolutely would. Exposing Trump's scandals to sunlight might do that, but there's no guarantee on what damage Trump will do on his way out.

The Democrats are going to politically grandstand because that's all they have left at this point given how utterly hosed their party is.

It all comes down to the Republicans in Congress and whether they see Trump as a liability or an asset. They have the potential to enact a pretty much permanent majority in the US if they try hard enough, but Trump as the figurehead might be too unstable for their comfort level as he gleefully starts trade disputes and international incidents with 3 AM tweets. Pence would be infinitely superior to the Republican establishment because he won't do half the stupid poo poo Trump will, but Pence is only a step or two above Ted Cruz in terms of charisma, so he wouldn't be able to sell bullshit to the US like Trump can.
