Rise of the Tomb Raider is a game where the side content feels much better than the main game.

The main game dragged for me and there are parts and enemies that feel like they were copied from the reboot.

I feel like there's lots of things you could say that about tbh. The game is kinda all over the place

There are a few nitpicks that annoyed the hell out of me with the game. The game loves putting androids everywhere, which kind of leads to dull tedium in terms of "combat". Not only that, but the Alien will ignore them and beeline straight for you if you engage in combat with them.

Then there is the alien AI which is really drat annoying in how you can expose yourself when you think it's safe because the Alien jumped back into a vent, but instead he decides to pop right back out again. I have had the alien jump in and out of the same vent like 2 or 3 times.

And the game has like several places where it would be perfect to end, and it keeps going.

I actually thought GTAO was really fun before they added the yachts. They aren't necessary, but last time I played, they costed the equivalent of like $100 in real money.

But I really do like the premise and just messing around online in it.

I honestly think the core of GTA O was very fun. The main thing that stopped me was that I just have so many other games to play. There are some goons on my friends list that still play it religiously.

What really killed a lot of the fun for me was the armored Kuruma. After that came out, 90 percent of the players were driving with it and it made missions even less interesting than what they were before.

Dragon's Dogma is really punishing when you first start out, and then you pass a threshold and you're able to easily kill almost everything in the game until the post game, and then you pass another threshold and you can kill anything pretty easily.

But the dungeon they added for Dark Arisen, I pretty much cheesed it because no matter what level you are there are a ton of things in there that can kill you in like two hits while it takes you forever to do damage to them. Plus it recycles a bunch of rooms.

Also, there was an area in the game that I never knew existed until hours after I had already beaten the game and was just messing around.

I really hope they rebalance dark arisen. It's basically impossible with a regular end game character after a few hours and the only way to get up to snuff is to grind NG+ which doesn't up the difficulty or Xp so it's just a complete slog.

Really, the only thing they need to do is rebalance the latter half of the extra dungeon. Some of the enemies there just take way too long to kill even after you have grinded for a bit. When I beat it, most of it was spent running away from enemies or just spamming those super powerful arrows to stunlock and kill the bosses.

That's what I did along with the explosive arrows and the threefold arrow ability. But I think his/her point was that your options either are to do that, or to just power level, but after power leveling for hours and still not doing much, I just said gently caress it and did the periapt trick.

I recently went back to play Alien: Isolation again and watching streams of it, the game does a really piss poor job of teaching players how to actually play the drat game.

90 percent of streams either are at medical or before medical.
Of those streams, 75 percent of them will be spent watching people hide in lockers, then taking 5 steps out of the room, hearing a blip on the motion tracker and returning to hide in the locker again.

After the first few minutes of being stalked by the Alien, I never once used a locker. They are pretty much death traps.

Although, I do think a lot of the level design loving sucks for a stealth game with an unkillable foe. Sure, make a stealth game and fill it with hallways. A lot of times the stealth devolves into just going in circles around a table.

Dragons Dogma is a game with a deceptively small map. That being said, there was stuff that I still hadn't seen after beating the game, like Soulflayer Canyon.

The added dungeon from Dark Arisen was kind of bullshit in that a lot of the enemies there were just health sinks and it was better to exploit using those exploding arrow things that pretty much ruin every boss in the game.

But I can't wait to buy it again. I am a remaster whore.

Same. There is so much poo poo out there to sink your time into, that waiting through drudgery is often annoying.

Also, the worst things about Rage was everything related to the cars. The best things about it was the first person shooter gameplay. I took on most of the side missions because of that.

Also, the ending to the game feels super rushed. You actually start exploring a new area that is completely different from everything else and then the game just ends.

Some tips-

Some weapons other than the Flamethrower can make the Alien run away

Walking is better than crouching around most of the time. If the Alien is in the same room or adjacent to you, then you should be crouching.

If your crafting items are maxed out, craft more stuff, Pipebombs are useful throughout the whole game.

Lockers are pretty much a death trap in my eyes. You run out of options when you hide in a locker, and the Alien is programmed to run a check on lockers when you are in them. Tables are OP, at least on normal. The Alien can't really see over certain tables when you are crouching and you can just circle around it to evade it.

You can use your wrench to kill a certain enemy that pops up much later in the game and it plays a special animation for it and saves ammo.
