All you need to know about Schumer is that when Hillary was looking for a Senate seat to carpetbag to she picked his electorate.

They said that about the Iraq War too. You know, that war Clinton voted for to find imaginary WMD that killed hundreds of thousands of people and then destabilized the region so much hundreds of thousands more died. Dems should have clapped harder.

Serf posted:i been saying it for years. you come down here to georgia and see how many trailer parks of abject poverty are filled with black and hispanic people working from dawn till dusk to barely make ends meet. i know a guy who lives in a trailer where the loving roof is separated from the walls, there's no ac and no running water and he pays $300 a month for rent I think some liberals have a vague sense that if racism was over every single one of those people would be a college educated professional instead, because white supremacy caused all of their problems. Reality is not quite that simple. Addressing racial issues has to come first as a matter of triage, but we need to help all the poor and oppressed rather than just certain identities of the poor and oppressed, because there are many disadvantages the poor face that have nothing to do with race or gender.

Being angry at primary challenges in areas with deep blue constituency is the biggest red flag that you are dealing with an ashamed conservative, not a pragmatic liberal or leftist. Let them have Manchin. Fine. AOC could not win a Senate seat there. But we don't need Manchin to win in deep blue areas. That's the dirty little secret, a ton of blue state Dems are Manchins placating a blue base the way Manchin placates his red base. Not genuine leftists. They screw us over the same ways Manchin (occasionally) screws over the right.

Bad Idpol: Calling voters you need racist and sexist Bernie Bros as a baseless cynical manipulation. Implying voters you are trying to appeal to with your centrism are deplorables. Not bad idpol: Being a POC. Campaigning to appeal to diverse demographics. Calling out bigotry. Any questions?

Guy Goodbody posted:Do you guys think that Democrats will realize that Republicans will paint all of them as far left socialists like AOC regardless of their individual stated positions so they lose nothing by actually embracing and running on those popular leftist policies? They oppose those policies. Not because it's politically pragmatic to. Not (in total) because their donors pay them to. They just think those policies are wrong and fiscally irresponsible because they are conservatives. They defend the status quo and fear change...because that is what conservatives do. They are conservatives.

logikv9 posted:deplorables was absolutely too weak of a descriptor It was classic Hillary in that it was too broadly applied and not harsh enough at the same time. She didn't insult the Nazis enough, but then she unintentionally insulted a bunch of people she had no intention of insulting (she thought #2 was going to vote for her and didn't want to insult them, instead they felt lumped in) too much. But then #2 barely actually exists on the right anyway, and this is just a whole big empty black void of suck.
