Stupid music poo poo I would like to see on the market: A thing I did years ago when at Uni was borrow a friend's volume pedal; hook it up directly next to my wah and duct taped a piece of wood over the rocker pedals to make one big pedal that controlled both at the same time. Volume + Wah combined is stupid fun and if I could be bothered/understood the electrical pixies enough to do it, I'd build an all in one that covers this. Of course if any of you know of something off the shelf which already does this, please let me know. Spanish Manlove posted:For clean stuff: not worth it. For high gain: good pickups are mandatory. I disagree, although it depends on what you're going for. I'm very picky about my clean tones and can hear a distinct difference between the pickups in my guitars when playing clean, although they are quite varied so that would have a hand to play in that situation. I absolutely agree with you on the pricing though. Things get typically snake oily once you hit a certain pricing threshold. Chalupa Joe posted:The DiMarzio TONE ZONE and air Norton pickups that Ibanez are using these days sound like poo poo. The old V7 and 8s they used to have were much nicer. That doesn't leave me with a good impression of the Tone Zone and Air Norton as I found the V7 and V8 to be incredibly thin and shrill sounding. There were numerous people on a bunch of forums posting about improving the V7 and V8 by swapping the magnets but I skipped that at went for a straight upgrade. I like my Evolutions (I, not tried the II) and my VBT came with D-Sonics which were supposed to be passive pickups that could rival EMG's... they don't, but they aren't bad. Dr. Faustus posted:EVH did it + Other reasons Bingo. But to the poster who suggested Corgan, I'm edging very close to the same hair style if that's a help?

If I'm not Mistaken, some of the GIG-FX pedals can do both and just set you back for like 200 bucks. No kidding. The first one I found was on Reverb for £545 and at first I thought optimistic seller but nooooooope, that seems to be the average going price. Maybe I will dig out the soldering iron and get to work on something.

Normally I find the pre-relic job thing utterly stupid but this is a thing of beauty. The spec is also right up my street. I just can't justify dropping that kind of money on an instrument.

The only change since then is occasionally using a wah pedal and sometimes trying to squeeze an eq pedal in. I'd be better off ditching the the whole board and getting something that wasn't designed for the purpose of only loading it with BOSS stuff.

Tap water and a clean micro-fibre cloth are all you need for cleaning your guitars. Strings (And managing to get the preferred brand and gauge right) are always a great gift, same for 9v batteries because I never remember to stock up on them. A set of allen keys for players with floating bridge equipped guitars is also good, and a pocket screwdriver kit. Oh I just remembered something except for its name. I remember seeing a while ago a set of fret polishing pads. They're not at all to be confused with a kit for doing an entire fret dress but they can remove grime and polish up the fret wire nicely. Looked like a bunch of emery pads with different grades of coarseness which you work through and come together in a wee pouch. On another note, those are some nice guitar straps. s.i.r.e. posted:Fellow brethren of the stupid music poo poo thread, does anyone have any recommendations for a clear display case for a guitar that can be mounted on the wall? I got a new gig at an apartment manager and my Agile (signed by Immortal ) is currently sitting at home in recessed wall built for it, but I'm however moving out for the job. I want to be able to pile all my collected Immortal/Abbath poo poo in the case and have the whole poo poo dust free and displayed nicely. Have you tried local picture framers? They often get requests to make display cases with frames for unique wall decor.

As long as your friend isn't putting himself in financial trouble playing guitar pokemans then more power to him. darkwasthenight posted:Standard tour abuse aside, Bruce is notoriously hard on his guitar electronics because he sweats like a monster and regularly dunks his head in a barrel of water at sidestage. The original Broadcaster has it's pickups sealed and drainage holes drilled along the bottom of the control cavity to let the sweat run out. I wonder if Angus Young has had anything similar done to his guitars. He's more sweat than man when on stage.

Stupid music idea: The department store in town is going out of business and selling off everything, including the fixtures. All the mannequins are currently marked for sale. I talked about this with a friend last night and we came up with the idea to maybe buy one and shove some motors in the the right arm so I can turn it into a stupid guitar stand that does this when I hang a guitar off it.
