I went to the largest Pokémon Center in Tokyo last week and it was pretty pathetic. They don’t even have plushes of every mon. No cool events or in-game gifts either — brought my Switch for nothing. I brought a dollop of yen to spend and genuinely struggled to find interesting things to buy.

Constantly fascinated by how bad Gamefreak is at making money. Also a Pokémon theme park would make absolute bank.

Speaking of Eeveelutions and Pokemon names, what should the English names of the inevitable Eeveelutions for the remaining types be? While a lot of the existing ones are just a word associated with the type + Eon rather than actual wordplay, most of them at least sound good (with Leafeon being the exception), and I like the way Flareon can be read as either Flare + Eon or Flare + On. My ideas:

• Litheon (Rock, has a lithe body)

I see "living dex" used a lot as one of the major complaints here, and I have to know. Are people transferring hundreds of monsters to each new game? If they managed a living dex in X/Y, did they toss every monster into the Bank and then transfer them all individually into S/M, get a new living dex, and then transfer them all back into the Bank and then into US/UM? It sounds like a lot of effort and a really niche Pokémaniac thing to do, but the claims make it seem like it's extremely common.

Charmeleon is actually one of my least favorite Gen 1 names. I mean, the thing has nothing in common with a chameleon and clearly isn't based on one. It's like if they called Pikachu a squirrel; rodents are all basically the same, right?

If I were in charge of localizing it today, I would have kept Charizard as the middle stage's name fitting in with how the Japanese name is "Lizard" and how he's the last part of the line to actually be pure reptilian before turning into a full on fantasy creature. The actual Charizard would be something like Chardra, Chardrake, or Charagon, or something.
