CN is really good, probably the best podcast hands down. I'll checkout Moderate Rebels

also you forgot trillbillies, is there a reason you don't like that?

Also Economic Update with Dick Wolff is good; however, I want to like it more than I do because it feels like he spends 5 minutes rambling without going into any real detail, and it's like poo poo I already know on a surface level and just told at a surface level and thats it. i always hope it ends up being more Mark Blythy in detail with more anti-capitalism and communism but it just never does

I love Wolff for being able to offer a very clear, easy to digest reading of Marx and for making me understand that even trying to understand the actual economics at work in the world is important even if it's hard, but yeah he has a set of talking points that he inserts and recycles endlessly. I can skip entire episodes because I already know exactly what he's going to say sometimes. Not that he's wrong.

I was worried Amber or someone would have a TERFy take in response to the Rogan thing but you're right it was a very good episode from all of them.

It was so sad to see their spirits crushed after the UK election, don't make our mistake Americans, don't hurt our chapos again :(

Oh no I forgot I posted in here and started more Amber discussion, I can only apologise.

One of the weirdest takes I've heard about Chapo is accusing them of being "South Park for the left" and thinking that nothing matters, "caring is uncool" ect. The only one of them you could make that accusation towards is Felix and even he gets the fire sometimes.

i keep hearing people talk about the slurs the chapo boys use and it's like, i can't think of anything they've said other than maybe "retard" in their early episodes. it's all hearsay from people who don't listen but say they've heard things

The punchline to all the wokescolds who say things like "Chapo Trap House's name is a slur" or "they're alienating the real left, people like me on twitter," is that Chapo have actively done more to try and make these people's lifes better than all of these unbearable accounts combined.

He did still vote for Bernie so I think that excuses him.

yeah the chapo movie episodes have become a real slog and if this is really what they’re doing for premium episodes for the next two months I’ll probably un-sub till they’re done. stuff like the Venom episode was cool because they really go nuts and get into the dynamics of it, but all of them lately have just been them snidely describing the events of the film in chronological order

I like the ones where it's obscure christian movies or whatever like the Trump Prophecy or the ones they did with Bill Corbett. The movie episodes on mainstream movies tend to be pretty bad.

Felix has discovered or resdiscovered Sun Kil Moon.

"Guy from Ohio rambling incoherently but amusingly about extended family members" is an incredibly match for him.

Anyone know what's up with Mike Duncan? His Twitter hasn't been active for a month.

His twitter silences are generally when he's trying to finish his book, I think he's out somewhere remote. Plus hospital trips which have really derailed the whole process. The haitus was meant to be until October, now it's January at the earliest and it wouldn't surprise me if he needed more time to get the book done.

Exactly this. I love Doctor Dick Wolf and will always be thankful for him giving a dummy like me some very listenable breakdowns of the economic side of marxism, capitalism etc, but there's no reason to keep listening to him these days because he's like like 80 and tells the same stories over and over again, very slowly.

The Chapo episode he went one remains a favourite of mine.

Man it’s real sad watching Mike Duncan regress into generic shitlib politics the last few episodes of his podcast. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but still. He’s apparently planning a one man show after it’s done, lol

He had a comment about how "there's better ways to industrialize guys come on!" or something that made my do a double take, like objectively one of the most impressive feats of industrializing in history to go from dirt-poor backwards farm county to the second world superpower in a few decades despite international hostility and devastating wars and famines.

The new project that Duncan has lined up sounds insanely boring. A podcast on history books.

I liked Revolutions and I'm thankful for it introducing me to wild rides like the Mexican Revolution, but yeah season 10 had so many red flags (no pun intended) that it's made me retrospectively doubt the veracity of all the other seasons, which is a shame. But it entertained me during commutes and work at least.
