I also read oil man was a common cover for CIA operatives because it explained their travels and vast wealth. H.W. Bush was an oil man during his supposed covert CIA agent days. John Hinckley's father was also an oil man who separately volunteered for World Vision, a known CIA front. And his non-assassin son was close friends with Bush's lessor known son Neil. Obama's step father worked of the Indonesian army before being selected to study at Hawaii before returning to Indonesia to work as an oil man for a US company. Obama's real father curiously enough was also selected for a program to study at Hawaii where he learnt Russian. He later returned to Africa to also work for an oil company and was later suspected of being involved in the assassination of a Kenyan pan-African leader. One article "Black is beautiful", in it he claimed to live in the black part of LA and have a black wife. In reality he lived in Canada and his wife was Filipino. He wrote that the soviet union forbade interracial relationships denying him his desire to marry an Asian lady. He also wrote that at age 6 he knew America was the greatest country on earth because they had delicious Spam meat. An absolute crank who if he lived a few decades later would have been making up fake backstories and straw men to own communism on forums, but instead he did the same writing op-eds to the newspapers. And yet he was catapulted to fame at a time of social unrest with interview clips where he specifically claimed social unrest over US systematic oppression was a Russian ploy to destroy the west and turn them into communist slaves. Unrelated to him but back to the No Russian mission in the older CoD. I hadn't realised his wife met him when he was underage. I've only ever seen the gap framed as a little unusual, younger man with an older woman. Never a mention of the age they met. It's still pretty common in places now I think about it. Drake has been in a few relationships with just turned 18year olds who he was 'friends' with long before then. He even became friends with the girl from stranger things when he saw her in the first season.

I've never actually seen it. It was a well known gross out film when I was a teenager. One that more people knew about but had never seen. Strangely it was always presented as just a violent, disgusting, body horror movie. It's very obvious political metaphor was never mentioned, nor the political leanings of it's creator. It's obvious now as a movie made by a Italian communist coming out of WW2, that it was a criticism of the powers in a fascist state, Church, State and Military. I suppose Italy's post WW2 repression by the US, the election interference to prevent a democratic communist victory, Gladio, and the years of lead; was also less known in my teenage years. The cold war cultural hegemony may have been the reason for that. It only seems in the recent decades, with social media and the rising interest for a capitalist alternative in the wake of 08, that communist history is less obscured.

I'm sure there's a conspiracy in how she came to prominence in the west. Her first appearance was at that Young Leaders Summit wearing her traditional Korean dress that went viral at the time. The summit itself is hard to get a handle on its history. It seems to have been founded by PR people and everyone involved in it's organisation similarly work in PR. It styles itself as Davos for the under 30s crowd. By the time she appeared on it, it was in its 3rd year and being held in Dublin, Ireland. At the time Ireland was, and still is, lead by a very anti-communist, pro American party. I lived there and I remember how much press she had gotten before the event even started. One of the main media outlets had interviewed her ahead of the event and used a lot of leading questions. Obviously after the event her speech went viral and was everywhere. But prior to that it had maybe been a year since the Occupy movement had been broken up by a police raid after being allowed exist for over a year. Ireland had experienced years of austerity and there was a growing interest in socialism. After her appearance you couldn't mention socialism without people bringing up her testimony. The gov used her to attack the opposition parties claiming their leadership would make us a socialist dictatorship like the one she escaped. When it came to young celebrities they'd have articles on them when they went through puberty. Suggestive tabloid pics of them with accompanying salacious headlines. I remember reading about that elephant experiment. I didn't know that was Jolly West. I had read it died because he set the dosage by comparing the elephants weight to a adult human. Not considering it's effect is on the brain so the dosage should have been based on the ratio of brain sizes. It was repeated with correct dosing and lead to 2 elephants having a good trip. I think it in this thread I learnt about the CIA killing Bob Marley and went looking into his background of anti-colonialism and pan-africanism which was becoming popular at the time of this last concert. To the point it was mentioned in US state documents as a threat for black liberation in the US. That whole history just got memory holed, and the history of gun violence within the country was re-written. It's just accepted that Jamaica has always been violent, and if you read into it lots of sources mention how it's murder rate was one of the lowest in the world at independence in 1962, and by the 2000s was one of the highest. Which seems to be trying to create the impression that violence drew directly from independence, as though the people were unable to self-govern and were better off as a colony. But if you look when the murder rate and violence started to climb it didn't start until the late 70s when the US started supplying the neoliberal opposition with guns. And it really started to climb in the 80s when the CIA was directly supplying, and training drug gangs aligned to that same party. It's similar in Haiti where people just accept the gun violence as their natural state. And nobody asks why gangs aligned to the US puppet in charge who engage in terrorism which benefits the US puppet, are able to get their hands on vast amounts of US made assault rifles.
