Junk posted:back in the late 90s in canada this new channel appeared called Teletoon. nowadays it's a pale shadow of its former glory, but back when it was new they would air just about fuckin anything late at night. I remember they'd sometimes have these old crappy cartoons that looked like they were from the 70s or something. I don't remember what this one was called, but it aired right after The Nudnik Show or around the same time as it (after 9PM, circa 1997/98). Here is how I remember this show: it featured a boy and a girl who were playing in a junk yard or landfill or something and built a car out of an old bathtub and some other trash that was lying around. There was some explanation of how it worked narrated by the boy as it showed the moving parts appearing on the bathtub as he described them to the friendly junk yard owner. they get in the bathtub car and start to ride around in it until it breaks down. the children lament that "delilah" isn't there to pull them back home, and the junk yard owner who is also riding in the bathtub car with the kids, tells them that she is. A smiling donkey then appears, apparently having been riding covertly in this bathtub the whole time. the boy exclaims "deliah! are WE GLAD to SEE YOU!" then some other stuff happens that I don't remember, i think my parents made me go to bed at this point. I found a schedule from May '98 which includes the Nudnik show, but there really isn't anything which could be the show you're describing. The show Frame by Frame is a compilation show, which may have it but the one I found at youtube didn't have kids in a bathtub. Maybe it's just lost for good? https://web.archive.org/web/19980503130851/http://teletoon.com/schedule.htm#adult https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB17F9223E8277584 I also found a more comprehensive list of all shows broadcast on Teletoon: https://teletoonandbeyond.fandom.com/wiki/Cartoons_By_Years

Infinite Karma posted:This is a real longshot, but I've been searching for info on this for years and haven't been able to find info on it, especially the name which I've forgotten. It was some kind of colorful flower, like "Petunias" or "Peonies" and that was the entire name. It could be Nelken, by Pina Bausch. Its english translated name is Carnations. I found it on the archived website for Zellerbach Hall and there's definitely a very lightly dressed lady with an accordion. https://web.archive.org/web/19991013073306/http://calperfs.berkeley.edu/9900season/dance/pinabausch.html You can read more about the play here: https://www.pinabausch.org/work/nelk I haven't been able to find it in its entirety on youtube, but here's a piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKy9MiOey_s

I got a request for a cartoon I watched back in the late 90s. It was an American one, I think the style was reminiscent of Beavis and Butthead, featuring a family of at least 3; parents and a kid. The only thing I remember is an episode where the kid has been (mis?)diagnosed with ADD and is sitting in the living room in a sort of vegetative state. He is playing tic-tac-toe with himself, but all that's happening is he's focusing on one of the pieces and says how many dimples it has. It's very vague, sorry, but I just recalled that fragment out of the blue and I'd like to know what it was.

There was a link in your video to the slowed down version of the song, here's the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMHA1DjKke8 The music sort of reminded me of Pokerface with Lady Gaga.

I'm reminded of reading a collection of sci-fi stories for kids in the early 90s at the school library. All the stories had a dystopian/spooky theme. Of those I recall, one was with a pair of kids living on an ice planet, where summer happens when the local sun thaws a small patch of the planet for a short while. The kids have made it a game to calculate where the thawed patch shows up, and the younger precocious one has a track record of getting it right. Except he gets it wrong this year, and he can't handle it so he runs away into the dark and cold and they never find him. Another was with a scientific expedition loking for alien life setting down on a desolate planet to look for evidence. There is a bit back and forth between a senior and junior scientist if this dead dirtball really is a good spot to dig, but they set the robots digging and sure enough they start finding skeletons. An analysis of a skull helps them create a model of the aliens' speech, and upon playback the model starts lising off names of car brands. It was Earth all along and the scientists are the aliens. A more dystopic one is with a clever kid who goes to a hiring agency for an interview. On his way there he meets a friend leaving the agency, lamenting the tests are difficult. Most of the story is a conversation between the kid and the interviewer who becomes more and more despondent as the story progresses and the kid gets all the questions right, and with the kid noticing the sound of machinery slowly spooling up on the floor beneath. At the conclusion of the interview the kid is asked to wait a moment in an adjoining room, from where he then is teleported into a small holding pen orbiting the moon. The interviewer talks to him over the radio, lamenting his situation as clever people are a threat to society but since he aced the test he's allowed a small respite to enjoy the view. Out a viewing port the kid sees skulls or skeletons also in orbit around the moon. The story concludes with the door opening and the kid being sucked into space.

Thanks! a friendly penguin posted:This one, if you skew the details slightly, sounds like All Summer in a day by Ray Bradbury. Thanks for putting in the effort but this isn't it based on its synopsis. I think the kids in my story were brothers, and they wore space suits because the young one turned off his suit's radio when he ran away.
