The best part is still that Will Smith DID laugh at the joke, while Jada was actually pissed initially. Would give anything to see after the camera cut away and before he started walking up what kind of silent look she gave him to say "WELL? WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS?"

I feel like anyone who was growing up in the end of the 90s had an awareness of what GI Jane was and saw it made fun of enough at the time that it's just back of your mind cultural osmosis at this point.

It's kind of hard to judge the state of things post covid (which is over, of course) but before covid a drop of like 55-60% from opening weekend to week two was expected. You get into the high 60s of a drop and that was considered bad and didn't bode well for long term numbers.

So seeing this article say it dropped 81% is def a big lol

Lol this all made me decide to say gently caress it and just read the wikipedia summaries of season 3/4. I love how we've gone from a small town adventure with a tight cast of characters you can follow to literally infiltrating Russian gulags and "you fight a monster, YOU fight a monster, EVERYONE FIGHTS A MONSTER". Can't wait until mid season 5 when portals open up all over the world and it's a complete global threat.

lol at having high expectations for anything Star Wars at this point. and I say this as someone who likes mando, yeah something forthcoming MIGHT be good but they’ll find a way to mess things up. the andor trailer looked interesting but I’m not setting myself up for disappointment.

laughing at how the final scene of Mando season 2 sets up Boba Fett and “oh man a full Boba story about him as a warlord being a badass, how could they mess that up??” and then look what we got

when/why did trailers start having mini 4 second trailers before the actual trailer starts

I asked this exact question like 3 years ago on the forums and someone pretty easily put me in my place: it's a Youtube ad. You're watching an ad that would play before OTHER videos before you get the change to skip over the longer full trailer to see what you actually wait.

While all of that is accurate, incredibly massive eye roll at "threw away a great opportunity". Stop acting like there was ever a chance the comic book series completely controlled down to the smallest detail by Disney (or any other multinational conglomerate) was ever going to do something that's a massive deep social commentary/deconstruction. The audacity to finger wag the writers, when even if they'd walked in day 1 of pre-production with a draft that was exactly what that person wanted you know management would have taken one look / ripped it up / said "we need She-Hulk to be on Tik Tok in a bikini one episode, make it happen"

All time top 5 theater experience for me, with Jurassic park (as a kid), matrix, dredd, and fury road rounding out the rest

I actually had to go verify because I couldn't believe it was doing that well. If anything, the low opening probably helped it out. It's getting by because similar to something like Avatar it has a massive tail and it doesn't seem to really be leveling off just yet. Every superhero type fare will hit 45 days and have reached 90% of its total but t this point it's ceiling probably depends on how long they keep it in theaters. 13 weeks into its run and still being number 4 at the weekend box office (and number 2 the previous week) is insane.
