I think these are my own words being used against me. But I'd consider the correct operating practices of using a scissorlift without fallpro are too narrow to fit into the mental load of a someone just doing their job. The scissorlift is the quickest tool for the job, not the best, so I'd rather not leave enough rope to hang yourself. I'd also accept just building scaffolding everytime which is the best tool but apparently that's too slow?

Anyway it's a complex subject that noone can agree whether PPE is an engineered control or dangerous tools of lax discipline. Do seat belts make people worse drivers? Probably, but the benefits outweigh the risks.

E. I mean you can still coach them to site their lift better if they are hanging their whole rear end out while wearing fallpro but there's a better place to park the thing for what they're doing. PPE and discipline are two great tastes that go together.

Sorry, I didn't mean in any way to twist your words. I'm just cautious about PPE being overrelied on, leading to it being used in situations where it's detrimental to safety. With scissor lifts, they can topple the lift and create more of a hazard. Also, the picture does have fall protection; the railing itself on the lift qualifies as fallpro.

Oh yeah this is a pretty up to date facility so just about everything is already covered/updated. For perspective, there's an EHS team here, not just a couple people.

Good ideas so far, though. One thing that I've suggested is some pairs of "one size fits most" scrubs for if someone has to rip off their clothing or (god forbid) use an emergency shower due to a spill in a lab or something.

Still, speaking of "workplace safety" I'm pretty sure pornography is flat out banned from the forums for the sake of mods/admins being able to perform their duties while in more professional environments.

I won’t speak for what the mods around here want or don’t want in their forum, but no. The NWS tag exists for a reason, no mods are expected to mod from their actual real deal “I get paid for this poo poo” job, and most mods are aware enough of their own forums to know which threads are likely to maybe have some poo poo other people shouldn’t see over your shoulder.

Now that said most mods in most forums will also drop rocks on you for posting un-tagged porn or gore etc in a thread that isn’t itself explicitly tagged NWS.

I don’t think any forum would welcome a flat out porn thread because that’s not really the vibe around here but that’s not to protect people at work.

YMMV, check your local forums rules, I’m not a mod in here etc.

Ah sorry, I thought the reasoning I outlined was the reason for removing the porn threads from PYF, and from there went on to be a more widespread (no pun intended) ban of explicit pornography-rear end-pornography
