I don't believe there is literally anything that could cause full scale riots against the federal government. Maybe a few here and there but not enough to stop anyone in Washington from doing whatever they wanted.

How can we go 18 months without everyone getting it eventually, gently caress

Atoramos posted:If everyone gets it over a period of 18 months, it doesn't strain the hospitals as much as everyone getting it in a period of 3 months, and less people die. Also, doctors become somewhat more experienced, PPE is somewhat more available, and as more people recover it becomes harder for the virus to spread (because those people are no longer vectors, the 'herd immunity' strategy). Yeah, I mean, I understand all that but it’s just hard to believe that over a year from now we will still have six months to go before everyone has had it. I’ve been trying to do my best on social distancing but I just assume I’m going to get it going to the grocery store every couple weeks or taking a walk around my neighborhood.

New Zealand was laying the groundwork for that yesterday where they'd essentially whitelist countries as being safe to travel to again, and I reckon Australia will do the same. Every country will find a way to let American businesssmen in, but all us yokels who just want to go on vacation will be SOL

shovelbum posted:but theres earnest cautious optimism and theres "the US is doing literally nothing effective, just taking a trip down ineffective faux social distancing lane to immiserate and smash a proletariat emboldened by a previously improving economy, and then going straight for the disease worst case" The state you are in has cases now doubling more than every 11 days and a lot of those are in concentrated facilities like nursing homes and prisons. The percent of ER visits for covid-like symptoms is going down. Testing definitely needs to be improved but I don’t think you can say literally nothing at least parts of the US are doing is working at all

Management is gaining hugely and the places that are doing best are those that have refused to embrace the captalist poison of liberalism. Are we missing something here? Feel like I'm going crazy. Aside from the rural nursing homes and meatpacking plants where like 75% of the facility gets it
