My random thoughts on the comics of the new year;

I'm really enjoying Archie, I think that and Casper were the comics I learned to read from. Also, return of the Bus is appreciated!
Also, Invisible Scarlet O'Neil is I think inadvertently funny.
Glad Funky is dead, can't imagine working on something for so long and just let it fizz out as terrible as it did.

I actually laughed out loud at this one!

In the 80s I found a "bound volume" collection of Archie comics at our local library and spent a few days pouring through the whole thing. None of the strips were as old as these and Jughead was pretty boring other than the whole "eat sandwiches" thing. These early strips you're sharing have really made him my favorite character!

Oh, and the only thing that really stuck out to me in the anthology was this one panel where Archie is going home in his old jalopy and there's a full moon in the background ... and it's loving enormous! Looks like something out of Majorskas mask! If I ever find it I'll share it.

But anyway, you may be casting your eyes over the middle strip and wondering what the hell. I did a little digging and it looks like Bob must have read this article from the May 5, 1947, Life magazine:

As with every other "lookit what those weird kids today are up to, Gertrude" article in the history of print media, it is not clear how much of this is stuff that hep kids in 1947 were actually doing and saying, and how much was made up by the author (or made up by the kids, to screw with the author).
So god damned funny; the comic was great but the background information you provided makes it 10x more so!
