What is Rossi's FIA driver ranking? Silver? If it is he's definitely someone BMW is going to be interested in keeping, since he's legitimately fast and also fills their lower ranked driver slot in a Pro-Am set up.

However he can only pull that off for this year I think. Once you have 3 years of full time racing you go up to Gold ranking and this is his 2nd year of 4 wheel racing.

Apparently MSR got clapped by IMSA, and lost all winnings and their points, as well as picking up a 50k penalty. One of their engineers was apparently falsifying telemetry data somehow, and IMSA found out.

MP is reporting that he's pretty sure that at least 1-2 other teams were cheating tire pressures. Also, interestingly, he's saying that he's heard enough to report that a third party may have tipped off HPD about MSR's tire pressure tomfoolery.

That second bit is interesting. Who else knew, and when did they know?!?

Possibly someone within the team (MSR) knew that it was breaking safety regulations, and tipped off HPD. IIRC, HPD informed IMSA of the safety violation once they found out, and IMSA took action by penalizing MSR. There'd be a very good reason why if the whistleblower was within the team they're not willing to reveal themselves.

Running below a minimum spec for your tire pressures can be dangerous as it greatly increases a chance of a blowout of one or more tires at speed, especially when you're talking about the high banks of Daytona. Sure you get more heat more quickly, but the stresses on the tire are different than a properly inflated one.

On the 2nd or 3rd team thing, MP is the first one i've heard say anything about it, so it will be very interesting to see what happens there. I am sure though that IMSA will be digging into teams data to find out what's going on to prevent this from happening again.

While I understand accepting weird entries for entertainment reason, having a trabant running in the same race of a gt3 on a narrow track like the nurburgring is not the best. I think they should cut the main race allowed classes to gt4 and up and move the dacia+manta to a "tcr and shittier" dedicated race.

It's not weird it's a whole class. If you only accepted sp9 and sp10 you wouldn't have enough cars on track, as only about 1/3 of the cars are the SRO GT4 or FIA GT3 spec.

I know they are different things, but you cannot deny that, even if it's done on a smaller budget, there is sneer on n24 from a lot of endurance fans due to the feeling that is a circus instead of a proper race.

This I don't get, I've never heard of anyone thinking of the N24 as a lesser event. It's less publicized outside of people who are neck deep in endurance racing but among people who know what it is I've never heard something like people looking down at the N24.

There are only 2 R10 TDIs that are in private hands, the two cars Kolles ran. One sold last year and is apparently in full racing condition, so might pop up in HSR/SVRA some day.

There is also only one R15 and one R18 in private hands, both changed hands last year too. The more recent the cars get though, the more difficult they would be to run without full engine swaps or factory support.

Well I'm sure that folks like JMB are keeping an eye on the historic car auctions to see if they can get their hands on one of the more recent Audis, especially one with a Le Mans win under its belt. I believe the R18 is as of yet unsold as it is not under the "Sold" category. As it's in a race-ready configuration the pricetag is probably millions of dollars though, so it might be a while before it gets sold off and sees a track again.

Nah, there are Peugeots of similar vintage out there running. Those might be the last LMP1s that run without factory aid, once you get to the hybrids they start to get much tougher to run without support (and I don’t think any had customer teams even in period).

I've been to some other lower-profile rallies and I could just show up and watch cars go vroom  am I completely hosed now or is it ok to just drive out somewhere near the stages and hike up to an observation spot?

E: I guess they have event tickets here: https://www.centraleuropeanrally.eu/tickets

not clear what this means though? So there's no access to Prague/Klatovy events at all? Or does it exclude service park in Prague/Klatovy?
