People forget that Lewis had an absolute rocket for the last 5 races, thanks to using Bottas as a test-bed for working out how hard they could push that engine. Despite Max's lead, it looked like Lewis would comfortably win the remaining rounds, and Max had to take one win from them somehow.
He could have meekly just let Lewis pass him with the 22kph(both with DRS open) to 35kph(Lewis with DRS, Max without) speed advantage he was getting over the RBR, or he could push every rule to it's absolute limit.
He chose the latter and he's a better racer for doing so.

Max is machiavellian. 👍

What’s also really bad are the brodozers with thousands of dollars thrown into their suspension who come to a dead stop and tip toe over a small, graded change in pavement height.

I understand I’m likely an outlier with most drivers everywhere in that I have an idea how slow and fast bump and rebound work since I can take my 86 over such a transition at the posted speed limit with no issues whatsoever.

I was listening to the Shift+F1 podcast today and Mario Isola was quoted to say that the Barcelona data doesn't work because it's a higher energy circuit compared to Las Vegas and the idea of increasing the tire blanket temperatures is being toyed with.

The engines are preheated in the garage by external oil heater/circulators, and those are also used during race start procedures. I’d worry more about brake tempts and brake duct adjustment, getting that wrong and the potential for very finicky tires could be a way worse combo.

Yeah, mentioned later on in that podcast was that teams should have everything figured out before race time. The components people are concerned about aren't part of the ICE, fwiw.
