That's probably true, and shells can be made in massive amounts on the industrial scale, but also one person could assemble dozens of drones at home with basic skills and equipment.

Russian air force being active is interesting. I remember seeing someone else reporting the same too, a few days ago.

Does Ukraine not have enough suitable anti-air? Have the Russians managed to hit their anti-air platforms with drones or something enough times that Ukraine has to be a bit wary with them? Or is Russia just taking more risks, hoping to get the attack done? Or is Ukraine saving their BUKs and Stingers and stuff for later?
They've been active this whole time but I've been hearing that they're a bit more aggressive now trying to find a way to do CAS, and stuff like stingers not being useful at night. But it's hard to say what's really going on.

Tatarigami has always cautioned everyone to maintain and measure expectations, and insists to never underestimate even an opponent as weak and corrupt as Russia. Even Strelkov said they still have enough gas in the tank to prosecute the war for maybe another year, if at most. Until that mark is reached at least, Ukraine should still give 100% toward the war.

Never underestimating the enemy seems like a no-brainer. The reason I'm not holding my breath now though is that the equipment really necessary for an offensive hasn't really materialized (yet). Still, if it takes another year of this poo poo, so be it, it's not like we have anywhere to go.

Don't underestimate those brushless motors.

They're way more powerful than they look.

My concern isn't in whether they can lift that, it's in how quickly those motors and speed controllers are going to rip through the battery life. None of the ones in the pic have a battery attached, so that'll be additional weight as well.

When I was doing quadcopter DIY and building out camera platforms/racers, you could lift a pretty goofy amount. The reason those heavy cam platforms have like 8 arms of dual motors isn't so much for the payload, as it is for stability and airtime.

Considering the warheads are attached with zipties, I think the battery only needs to last enough for a one-way trip

I think its the other way around.

In the first months of the war, the Russians got stuck in the mud, had miles-long traffic jams, entire battalions getting trapped and destroyed to the last man.

Now, the Ukrainians are being massively outshot in artillery without the opportunity to outmaneuver the Russians like they've had before, and Western artillery production hasnt increased enough to close the gap.
OTOH Russia's had the artillery advantage almost the whole time, but they seemed to be forced to tone it down recently. And they're throwing more men at fortified positions than before.

It's hard to say, I've seen figures around 100-120k thrown around but Ukraine never released anything officially

As much as any single loss of life is a tragedy, on strategic sense it's just what it is. I don't think the North Vietnamese were going to stop fighting because of their poor k:d ratios.
