just lmao if you dont think that, 50 years hence, some government memo is going to get declassified which shows how much pressure is being put on the press, local government, and maybe even the emergency services to keep their mouths shut There's no way to put a full lid on this thing, but it's being dragged out and smushed down as much as possible.

The Eagle has gotten fried (eternal God-PM Bojo wins landslide) after hitting the metaphorical power line (inept handling of public disasters that makes May look competent), into which it has been launched by the strike of a nearby wind turbine blade (lovely liberalism that makes libdems look radical).

Junior G-man posted:Do they really think that this whole 'Corbyn = Venezuelan catastrophe' line is sticking? I've seen it everywhere and so far I don't know anybody who's impressed except for thumb people. Venezuela in recent years is a favourite flogging horse for Tory types because aside from anything else, it's almost impossible to find anything approaching impartial coverage of events, let alone in English media. So they can say "lol socialist country failing" and it's very difficult to cite solid information about why that's wrong. thehappyprince posted:apparently facebook counts 3 seconds as a view tho so who knows how many people actually watched it Rule of thumb is a facebook view is worth about a third of a youtube view.

Private Eye's piece on Grenfell is very good but grim reading. They lay out over two pages the history of the Tenant Management Organisation's attempts to ignore and deflect the residents concerns and the council's attempts to avoid engaging with it up including ignoring the recommendations of their own commissioned study into the situation in the block. I have the feeling this is a warm up to a longer piece in the future.
