Well, a hot take is a "piece of deliberately provocative commentary that is based almost entirely on shallow moralizing". So a solid defense against this accusation would be a thoughtful condemnation of the unthemed GBS-heavy. Kill the head and QCS will die, etc.

I've always assumed if you post in FYAD and are not a goatse comedy god you will get banned, and BYOB is for chill kitty posting about memes or something? Was I wrong? To be fair it's a bit of a mystery.

Byob is a chill place to make posts and chill. Like if you've ever seen a post like "why don't you loving get raped and die!" And thought to your self "boy I wish there was a place I could make jokes and not read those kinds of posts" then BYOB might be for you

They were very welcoming to refugees during that week GBS was closed. They have their in jokes and strange ways, but they aren't mean about it. FYAD is a little edgier. If your posting style doesn't fit in they will tell you about it very bluntly. A lot of top notch humor comes out of FYAD, but it can be hard to break in to.
