Perhaps a stupid question, but can I /testcopy over multiple (different) characters per account or is it only one per account? I moved over my main but wanted to bring over an alt.

Sand Monster
Apr 13, 2008

Is it possible this is it, the "Gift of Legacies Lost"? It shows count 999 on the left and 1 on the right, so I'm not sure which is accurate. But I looked it up and it says it summons a satchel that contains 10 potion of adventure, among other things.

Pretty certain that those potions are No Drop, not Heirloom. The one mentioned before was only 1, if I recall correctly. And with 999 claimable, it would be easier to just make an alt on test, claim it, and put it in the bank, and not worry about testcopying. So that's not the right claim.

I realize this is divergent from the original topic, and I'm sorry for not getting this, but can you clear up my confusion? It says I have 999 claimable. If I go to claim one, it says that it can only be claimed by a single character on my account with a warning to make sure I am logged into the character and server that I want to claim it on. Does that mean that, once I claim it on "CharacterX" on Test server, I can claim it 998 more times but only on that character?

Sand Monster
Apr 13, 2008

I think I've got it. So basically I can make a character, claim it, put in shared bank, delete the character... rinse, repeat... 999 times.

Sand Monster

Andy Dufresne posted:

Not really, because the potion of adventure in that claim isn't heirloom and it's only 10% xp. There's another claim for 3x 50% xp heirloom pots with only 1 "quantity" in the claim window. If you've used it anywhere -- on test or live -- you'll never be able to get it again. I made the mistake of claiming it on test and that was it, no duping for me.

Oh, bummer. I had given my account to a friend and it seems he must have claimed all of these on the live server. Thanks for the clarification.

Starting on March 15, 2013 and lasting until May 26, 2013, all our new Anniversary Quests and content will be turned on. This party isn’t just going all night – it’s going for two months!

This year we’ve added a bunch of new quests to our Anniversary events; these quests have been designed by your fellow players at last year’s SOE Live.

Surviving Xmiticzin
A necromancer by the name of Xmiticzin has obtained a larger piece of a Cazic’s shard, and gained control over the artifact vault in Chapterhouse of the Fist. The Harbingers want his shard as part of their mission to revive Cazic Thule. Unfortunately, he has barricaded himself inside the vault and forces anyone trying to reach him to play demented games. In order to reach him, you'll have to get through his games alive.
Big Gnomes, Big Problem
Giant skeletons have started attacking the gates of Ak’anon, and threaten to crush the small gnome army defending it. Join the resistance and help them not only stop the giant skeleton invasion, but uncover who’s behind it all. Gnomish inventors will aid you in your mission, granting you boons like super-size, a flamethrower, and a top-secret bunny disguise. Best of all, the mission is level-agnostic, allowing characters of any level play through it together without the use of shrouds.
Piestro’s Day Off
Piestro was enjoying a day off wandering about the Great Divide, when the designers contacted him and gave him some alarming news: Bristlebane is making a huge stink about how the developers haven’t paid him any attention lately, so he kidnapped one of them and stashed them away in the Plane of Mischief.

The design team has asked Piestro to find some brave adventurers to rescue the captured developer. You will have to play by Bristlebane’s rules in his realm, however, and become one of his wacky minions. What tricks does Bristlebane have in store for you and your fellow adventurers? There is only one way to find out; enter the Plane of Mischief and try to keep your wits about you!
Evil Eye Operative
Huckle Thornleaf is the last remaining member of a covert task force whose sole focus was to gather intelligence on Xorbb's army. Alone in the woods, Huckle is bound by honor to remain at his post, but worries for the safety of his comrades who he believes were captured by Xorbb’s minions. Luckily, Huckle has a plan, and it involves you using the guise of an evil eye to infiltrate Xorbb’s stronghold and rescue the remaining task force members.
To Thine Own Creator... Be True, or False?
Choose to either work with the minions of the First Creation in Convorteum to discover which of his creations has become a traitor, or to overthrow his tyrannical rule!

But wait, there’s more!

With this being the celebration of 14 years of EverQuest, we thought there was no better time to release the highly anticipated Epic Ornamentation Quests! Built as a labor of love by our own Chris “Dzarn” Black, these quests will be available from March 15th onward. Here’s a little blurb to get you excited:

Greetings Norrathians!

Are you tired of your dull and dismal daggers, your boring and bare blades, your humdrum and humiliating hammers? Then come on down to Dzarn's Epic Ornamentation Quest Emporium where we offer the finest in nostalgic ornamentations!

You Shamans longing to wield your Spear of Fate, you got it!

You Warriors wishing you could unleash the glowing blades of strategy and tactics, you got it!

You Necromancers who would rather use your duck staff over the 2.0 you're still holding on to, you got it!

Ever wanted to burn new Freeport to the ground? YOU GOT IT!

Relive epic moments in your class' history as you do battle against Zordakalicus, Innoruuk, Khati Sha, Miragul, and more!

Starting now with EverQuest's 14th anniversary you too will be able to visit Dzarn's Epic Ornamentation Quest Emporium, satisfaction guaranteed*.

*Guarantee of satisfaction not guaranteed. Participants must have completed the original epic 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0 quest that they desire the ornamentation of. Participants will need to visit 16 historic locations and complete a special event at one of them based on their class. These events will be available starting with EverQuest's 14th anniversary, but will not go away when the season is over.

Enjoy!

Of course we’ll be having a few sales here and there as well, some bigger than others. ;)

So keep your eyes out, your mercenaries close by, and get in game today!

Question regarding /resetaa usage...

Let's say I put points into an AA that raised my potential skill cap beyond what it would normally be, and subsequently raised that skill up. Then, I do a /resetaa and reassign my AA but do not re-purchase that AA that raised my skill cap. Will that break anything or will my skill just go back to whatever it was before the AA was involved?

Sand Monster
Apr 13, 2008

What about for AA that raise skills, not necessarily stat caps?

For example "New Tanaan Crafting Mastery" where you can raise a tradeskill beyond what your cap would be without the AA? So if I had that AA and raised my skill to, say, 225, but then /resetaa and don't buy it again, so does my skill cause problems if it's at 225/200?

Sand Monster
Apr 13, 2008

Thanks for the clarification on /resetaa. I also found that, if you try to use it again, it says you have to wait a week. But apparently you might just need to zone and then it will work again. I waited a few hours and logged back in and I could use it.

FYI, I don't know if it's active or not, but if you're below 2-3k AA you won't notice it if you have 100% AA turned on. It's additive not multiplicative.

Oh, this is good to know. So, since I am level 80 on my characters and with significantly less than 2k AA, I should probably use the double exp weekend to get some levels rather than AA.

Have they really not updated the hot zones since 2011?

I believe it is every 8 hours for /testcopy. You could always create a new account for free on your live server and trade the items back and forth on various mule characters to maximize your item copying potential.

Working on SoD progress and I am at the Field of Scale area. For the task 'Lost and Found' from Jaled`Dar, it says the following on Allakhazam:

quote:

This is a shared task which begins with Jaled`Dar in the Field of Scale. He is found among the dragons due south of the Void portal.

In order to get Jaled`Dar to speak with you, you have to complete four out of the following eight tasks (task details are linked on the left, under "Related Quests"):

- "Drake Scourge"
- "Food Supplies"
- "Grand Illusion"
- "Raising Cabilis"
- "Sarnak Recovery (Sokokar)"
- "Sarnak Recovery (Burynai)"
- "Sarnak Recovery (Kurn)"
- "Supplies"

Looking at my /ach window, I see the following tasks complete:

"Sealed Message: Raising Cabilis"
"Sealed Message: Sarnak Recovery (Kurn)"
"Severilous: Food Supplies"
"Trakanon: Supplies"

By my count, this is four of the above eight tasks, yet Jaled`Dar does not give me the quest. Anyone have any ideas?

It adds a "Copied" tag to tradeable items brought over via /testcopy, but that's it really. You can copy something over and it won't become "No Trade".

My guys are both almost 10 after a few hours and about to complete the tutorial (I barely remember anything from this game) so any tips would be great no matter how general

Do the hot zone quest each time you hit the level for a new hot zone, which is every five levels (although if you level too fast you will have to wait as there is a lockout timer on the quest). The NPC is Franklin Teek in Plane of Knowledge. He's right outside the Guild Lobby zone.

The hot zones are amazing experience at the lower levels up until about level 50 when it starts to drop off, which also coincides with a pretty lame hot zone in Plane of Disease. Go to Plane of Justice instead. Use your "Lesson of the Devoted" for max experience gain when available/necessary.

Sand Monster
Apr 13, 2008

You should be able to find defiant gear in /bazaar that is relatively inexpensive. It also drops at random so be sure to loot all corpses for anything you kill.

You may as well keep leveling. Just do the hot zone quests from Franklin Teek (which will give you a piece of gear, too) until you get to the low 50s which is when stuff will start to get more difficult and then you'll want to concentrate on improving your gear, particularly if you're still using the /testbuff stuff.

I used to play ages ago, stopped right around GoD I think, and have a 66 Paladin floating around on some server. I'm looking to reroll as a Mage, and was wondering which server would be best to start up on. I'm going to try to eventually set up boxing once I get a feel for the game again, but I've never been that good at it so I would hope to find a decent population of people to group with when necessary.

Well, if you want to try boxing, Test is the most affordable since you can create free "Gold" accounts with all expansions enabled, etc. It doesn't really have a good population for grouping at the lower levels especially, but you can box and use a merc on each of your characters to create your own group and play this way until you reach the higher levels where you may be a little more likely to find a group. As sad as it is for old school players, you can get a new character up to your former character's level of 66 in mere hours.

I have a couple of questions...

I can't help with the boxing questions, but two points about Test that may be pertinent: firstly, you can use the "/testbuff" command to instantly jump your characters to level 25 with appropriate skills and equipment; secondly, the Test server has an inherent exp bonus, so if you're going to grind levels, do it there and it will go faster!

You could also play on the Test server if you want all access, for free. If you're planning to just explore on your own and not looking to group or anything then it might be the way to go (it was for me).
