It's gonna be the Brutal Legend demo all over again and the rest of the game is just an airship simulator.

Duscae is the only open area they ever intended to make, the rest of the game is just corridors and cutscenes, with the crystarium and datalog to break the tedium.

So if anyone remembers the Dive In system (most notable feature was the ability to stream FF13 on tablets), they're shutting it down on September 13th and refunding anyone that ordered a year-long subscription in full.

At least it got them to port the XIII games to PC. No idea why Lightning Returns is taking so long, though.

For those who didn't know, I played Final Fantasy XIII-2 before I started this and I devised a point system for that game to determine my personal score for it. Every time the game forced me to look online for something, I deducted a point. By the end I'm pretty sure XIII-2 ranked somewhere between the worst game ever made and a crime against humanity.

I got to a point in XIII-2 where the only two Wild Artefacts I could access were the one that required spending hours in the casino and the one hidden on the side of a cliff, which could only be found by positioning the camera in a specific way and throwing Mog at it. All the others were in areas that required Wild Artefacts to unlock.

Even with Gamefaqs it took hours to narrow down which ones I could even get. After all that the game took 20 hours to beat, with 5 of those spent making absolutely no progress. I'd glady take the corridor over that, since at least you're actually given challenging fights, visit new areas, and don't have minute-long loading screens when you realise you're in the wrong place. LR is better than both those games at least.

Before it even became FFXV, Versus XIII lost some of the violence and blood it had during the initial reveal. SE has always been reluctant to push the envelope since FF, especially the main series of games, since a key demographic for the games are teenagers in Japan. Much of the darker aspects, such as the brutality of war, have come from directors like Matsuno and Tabata who have an interest in history and warfare. With the success of M-rated RPGs in the West and the contraction of the Japanese home console market, I'm not sure it continues to make sense to avoid directly appealing to an older demographic.

Yeah, the first trailer in 2006 had red blood for the enemies, but for the 2013 PS4 reveal it had been changed to blue. Also, in Duscae the enemy soldiers are now robots.

Since the Japanese age ratings are way more strict on violence (especially against innocent people like in GTA), it might be worth having a censored version in Japan like No More Heroes or Metal Gear Rising did. Some people even prefer those versions since enemies exploding into pixels looks really cool, and the white blood in Rising actually fits parts of the story a lot better.

I want the FFXIII trilogy on Vita and PS4.

Same here, mostly because the PC versions are really poorly optimised because they run on a single thread, and even ridiculously powerful PCs can't hold a stable 60fps. Plus, the videos in FFXIII are lower quality than in the PS3 version.

Valkyria Chronicles was originally a PS3 exclusive, and that still had an extremely optimised port. I guess SE only intended to use the PC ports for their streaming service, until they realised they could also sell them on Steam.

If they know they can't please every FFVII fan, then they should just make it so that it pleases none of them.

Aerith will be renamed again to Aelisu, the Gold Saucer will be entirely microtransaction-based, and the only person Cloud can take on a date will be Vincent.

I have no idea why you think there isn't a large portion of the FF fanbase who would squeal with delight over Cloud going on a date with Vincent.

Sorry, but Vincent is now a happy-go-lucky star of the planet's only sport.

Plus, Sephiroth dies in a cutscene just before you get to fight him, only to be replaced by the real villain who was pulling the strings the entire time. And no, it's not Jenova since that would have actual foreshadowing.

Especially considering they fly everywhere.

I hope they keep that moment from the 2011 trailer where one of those air transport ships is in a city and just slamming into buildings. It then detonates and sends itself flying into Noctis. It was funnier before they revealed the soldiers inside are just robots now.

Cranky Kong was actually rendered sterile after he was involved in tests of strong herbicides and pesticides by Stanley the bug man during a successful collection mission in the Congo. Mario saw the need for platforming action gorillas and conspired with Princess Daisy to begin les gorilles terribles, a project by which three clones of Cranky Kong were created. One was a perfect clone in every way and quickly became insane and transformed himself into a lizard, rolling over the lizard tribes, making himself King Kong Rool. He rapidly changed personalities as well, becoming Kaptain Kong Rool and Baron Kong Rool in his constant attempts to siege Donkey Kong Island. One clone was made using the so called "weak genes" of Cranky. This was Donkey Kong. The last clone was made from the strong genes, and this was Funky Kong.

Mario grew to fear the Kongs and believe they may be too powerful, and he kidnapped a young chimpanzee as a countermeasure, believing it was not necessarily genes, but circumstances and memes that made them who they were. Diddy Kong was put through a virtual reality simulation of Donkey Kong "country" in which he relived the events of the first war of the Kongs. The plan backfired, as Kaptain Kong Rool kidnapped Donkey Kong, solving the problem, but Diddy Kongs programming and experience caused him to instinctively rescue Donkey Kong, even after Mario inserted the sleeper agent Dixie to try and distract from his mission.

The mushroom kingdom was in panic as the Kongs expanded their territory, now having dominion over Kong, Kremling islands and expanding into the surrounding islands. As a last gambit Mario turned K. Rool to the mushroom cause and successfully captured both Donkey and Diddy, but his own agent Dixie had fallen in love with the smaller Kong and together with the child they had out of wedlock freed him.

The proxy war with the Kong Island continues to this day, with Mario employing the skills of tikis, snowmads, and even racing wizard pigs to try to show their expansion. Kong Rool is presumed dead.

Cloud, berserk from just watching Sephiroth die, attacks Sephiroth and pushes him into the green goo.

Then Iscar Matthias brushes his hair to the side before darkly musing on the failings of humanity.

I wish there were enough spaces to name someone Iscar Matthias. Preferably Cait Sith.

I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but those are generally my feeling about OCRemix albums. Neat, sure. Interesting, okay. Something I think is subjectively an improvement that I enjoy more than the original... generally only a small fraction.

I really like the Street Fighter II album, mostly because it's how I was introduced to the series' music in the SFII HD Remix. They sound a lot better to me than the original chiptunes, particularly T. Hawk, Zangief, and Fei Long's stages.

The best OC Remix tracks tend to be the ones that feel like they'd fit right in with the original game, rather than just being some generic techno music with only some hints of the original melody.

Porting the GBA version would have required a lot more effort, also possibly legal issues with Nintendo.

I wouldn't think so. Mega Man games from the NES were able to be emulated for the PS2 and Xbox versions of the Anniversary collection, while the recent Legacy collection are proper ports which just use the ROMs to fetch assets from.

Not to mention the PS1 versions of FFIV-VI and Chrono Trigger, which I think ran on SNES emulators.

That was the most frustrating criticism of that game. The people complaining about there being too many tutorials probably weren't reading them.

Does the game ever tell you that you get a full ATB recharge after 12 seconds? After I read that here and returned to the game, it finally clicked.

There's also no reason why the first paradigm shift of a battle takes so much longer. Some people prefer to start a battle in the wrong paradigm and switch immediately so it doesn't cause a problem later.

I would be happy if FFVII's remake had LR's combat except switching between three different characters rather than costumes.

That doesn't mean I don't also want customisable costumes. I want Honeybee Inn Cloud, Doughnut Cloud, and a mode that changes every character in the game to Sephiroth, fully voice acted.
