You'll also want to pick up two feature/dumb phones so you can register those imei's for the 'extra' lines in order to remove the required data features that go along with that process. Not sure if care is still willing/able to provide dummy imei's to do that for you. You could probably find two flip phones for $10/ea at target/best buy/craigslist. Yea, no more dummy imei's. From the sounds of things either too many "turns out its not connectable" situations or people just deciding to inflate their tablet numbers.

Check fast facts, its nestled away in there, I expect to hear more about it in the coming weeks. From what I've heard a customer will have to have the device with them and you'll have to use that IMEI. Not sure how that'll work for someone who wants to put an iphone on prepaid or something like that. Also I've only done/seen a few Nexus 4s but from what I can tell they activate right to H+.

I've seen this happen to people from time to time. I'm pretty positive its some kind of firmware issue with the iphone. I even had a guy who's phone stayed connected to cellular data even when we turned it off on his phone. Its really weird.

Good news, HSPA+ and LTE phones now have data working on prepaid so that means iphones and others will now work on prepaid. 65 a month for unlimited talk/text and 1GB of data and 50 a month for 250 minutes, unlimited text and 1gb of data.

OatmealRocks posted:$65 for 1 GB of data. What a bargain. Yea, compared to a lot of stuff out there its not. I work in a market where its just Verizon and AT&T, prepaids like Net10 and Straight Talk don't work in a lot of areas around here either. My hope is they'll offer more prepaid/different plans. But if you're someone who doesn't use a lot of data its still cheaper than having a contract plan on your own. Sticky fucked around with this message at 03:48 on May 25, 2013 |

Here are the new changes to prepaid that were announced today:quote:$60 per month: unlimited talk and text with 2GB of data, $10 per 1GB additional Still not amazing compared to some of the other prepaid services out there but its LTE capable. But in my market where there's no Sprint or T-Mobile and Net10/Straight Talk aren't great its gonna clean up. I'm probably going to switch my personal line from contract to this when it becomes cheaper for me to do so.

Generally you need to get an unlock code from the service provider. In this case AT&T. Are you buying the phone on contract or just outright?

Just a quick note. The ability to match prices is decided on a regional level. So my region does not allow any price matching of any kind. So we can't match att.com or any of the national retailers in our area.

Your state will regulate the ammount of tax you pay on the device. I know in my area you only pay the tax on the subsidized price of the phone.

Your discount will come off your minute plan, not your data. If your work discount waives your activation fee thats really the only way around it, you can try and call customer care for that kind of thing but if you're only bringing over one line its not likely, but it also depends on the store that you go to, just don't get your hopes up. You can buy the refurb phone and sell it for another device absolutely but there is no way for you to get that in a store, you'd have to order it through att.com and I don't even know if Amazon deals with them. And on the last one its really going to depend on the phone and the settings within, but I have set up unlocked phones and have had LTE working on them.

It looks like each of us has 6GB of data. Is this just a weird artifact of the upgrade or is something else going on? My last bill didn't have double charges. It just had the two upgrade fees as extra charges. Did you order these online, over the phone or in store? Usually its just an artifact in the system because you have to switch from a non LTE data plan to an LTE capable one.

The rep told me that despite being on a family plan, in order to order an iPhone from AT&T, I would need to use my personal upgrade that isn't up in a year and that my only option in regards to using my brother's upgrade would be when the 5s came back in stock at an AT&T store. That sounded really fishy, is that actually how it works? Technically you can't order a phone and do a cross upgrade with it so the upgrade could still be done but it would be done on your brothers line and you would have to change the phones manually. You could go to a corporate store and have them remove the parked equipment and then activate it to your line. Someone tell me if I'm wrong though.

More than likely it was not done intentionally. I would call customer care to verify that both phones are on one 6gb plan just to be on the safe side. If they're not then they'll be able to take care of it right there for you.

You should be able to add lines to your family plan still. Unless you have 5 lines already in which case you've hit the limit on lines allowed on that plan. Online it can be a little confusing sometimes. Go into a store and talk to a rep if need be.

Is my best option to use my SquareTrade warranty and pay the $70 deductible? Would it be feasible to repair for cheaper? I would probably do just that. A phone like that is much less common than an iPhone and parts aren't always well stocked by places that fix them (at least at places around here). The option thats probably less of a headache in the long run is to just pay the deductible and be done with it.
